My first zombies (an ongoing project)
« on: March 20, 2009, 10:53:47 PM »
So there I was: It was a new year, I'd finally managed to build up momentum and crack on with the weird war projects that had been sat on my desk for two years in some cases...

and then I stumbled on this site.

I forget how I found it, but I remember I joined to ask Commander Vyper where a certain miniature had come from... then I stayed, and looked around...

I blame Akula (who I can't help but think of as Doctor Akula) for showing off so many pretty zeds, but it's as much my fault for being so impressionable...

Anyway, that's enough rambling, time for some blurry photos! (ever since our digital camera decided to paint everything in vibrant shades of pink we've been reduced to using the camera on my fiance's phone...)

'E's got an arm off!

Even in death can men wear snazzy ties...

What happened to Grandad?

The shambling arm of the law

And last but not least, the contender for my absolute favourite sculpt of all time - I'm endlessly amused by the idea of a zombie shambling up to someone and having their hand puppet eat them with a 'nom nom nom'... (also, he's got a wedding ring on - that almost broke my heart...)

Asis always the case, I feel I should insert a disclaimer proclaiming that I do not pretend to be a pro painter, neat is what I strive for. The highlights are pretty much drowned out in the piccies though...

So that's five down, another ten waiting for underoat along with a couple of survivors... Come the start of next month I'll get some proper miniatures too, I swear...

@Dexter: These photos are the result of auto fix on photobucket, they used to be even worse  :o

@The_Wisecrack: you found strikezoneonline? I was going to go through them, but in the end I cracked and bought pretty much every zombie (and then some) except for the LEs from ebay - annoyingly, it looks like someone's just listed a bunch of horrorclix for 65p a piece, when most of mine were buy-it-now's for £1-3...

[Edit:] shoutout to predatorpt who sent me some zombies and got the ball rolling  8)

And lo, my first survivor, started whilst watching Empire Strikes Back last night and finished this morning - pics still slightly out of focus, but now with actual sunlight!

I think I need to do something about the hat, it's come out looking a little bright...

Here she is, but with a shadow this time!

She also has a little purple backpack and a teddy bear, but I didn't think to take a photo of her backside, as t'were...

Other progress includes having undercoated everything that was based - time to crack out the small flat drybrush methinks...

they're Radioactive zombies lol lol

 lol

Would be great if you could manage to get the pictures just a bit better, but I do know from experience that it takes a while to get the hang of it. Looking forward to seeing more though since I've been contemplating buying horroclick for a while.
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

I wouldn't leave it too long, production has stopped on Horrorclix and everyone seems to want the zombies

I blame Akula (who I can't help but think of as Doctor Akula)

I get blamed for lots of stuff, but no one has called me Doctor before....  lol

Nice job on the zeds (and the survivor) - suitably gory.

Keep them coming!

Ah, but isn't it obvious? Surely you with all your chemicals and pastes, and work-lab must be a re-animator/doctor? ;)

Nice Zeds, keep em coming!

That they are! Impressed with the Dugas sculpts, less impressed with some of the others - some of the heads seem to be a pea with two pinholes for eyes and a scratched in line for a mouth...

They look good, but the piccies are indeed pretty bad 8)

THe ventriloquist really is a pretty cool sculpt, shame the horrorclix models are so large :(
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins
