I still think we need to game that Helldorado board with VSF stuff. Moving lava flows...sinking clanks...hideous spiders popping out of those crags. You can never have enough spiders.

Those look like they were made woth rubberized horse hair covered in flocking material afterward.

What about the trees themselves?

They look like sticks or dowels with a controlled use of hot glue gun glue for the roots. I could be wrong though.
