Hello All,

After a 10 hour sprint of painting I completed the last piece of my fantasy orc army; The wolf riders.  These are Splintered Light miniatures and once again have lots of character.

I very much wanted the grey wolf theme to my units.  This is of course as because my inspiration as a kid was the 1980 animated Hobbit movie.

I am happy to present the entire Orc army for your enjoyment.  You can see the Litko bases in work.  I have more bases on the way.

and here is the storage home.

We now move on to the Men of Lake Town.  Hurray!

Thank you and I hope you enjoyed.

Hello All,

I acquired some 15mm terrain from a Esty company called Dungeon Artifacts. This is all 3D printed by the company.  Very good for scatter terrain.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/DungeonArtifacts

I painted them up and liked what I got.  The trees are very durable and took the painting very well.

We see Sir Walter leading a group to explore the ancient overgrown ruins.  What is the worst that can happen?

Thanks and enjoy

Wow!  I’m not a big fan of 3D prints, mostly because of the work involved in fixing the deep striations, but those trees look mighty tempting.

A lot of the resin printers tend to have less visible striations compared to the PLA and similar ones

Hello all,

With the orcs done we move on to the first Human army.  The men of Laketown.

I decided to start at the top with the command elements and the elite warriors; just to change things up from time to time.  I do really love this era for miniatures and the general look.  I love the Dark Ages!  I have used the Splintered Light Early Anglo Saxon range as my basis.

First up is the command element of the army.  Here we have Bard, or is it Bain, or maybe even an earlier Warlord when Dale was first founded and the Dwarfs and humans worked together pacify the area around Erabor.  Let your imagination run wild.

I did give the leader a simplistic symbol of a Dragon drowned in a lake on his shield.

Next we have a unit of Elite Warriors.  I imagine these men as the standing city guard.

Lastly we have a standard unit of warriors.  These men are all armed with longswords because you can't have Laketown without longswords.

With cries of “Moria!” and “Dain, Dain!” the dwarves of the Iron Hills plunged in, wielding their mattocks, upon the other side; and beside them came the men of the Lake with long swords.

One really nice thing about fantasy armies is I can make the look more uniform than would be expected in a historical army.  I painted the shields and cloaks with the "colors of Laketown" as suggested by the members of the forum.  I used blue (the Lake) and grey (The mountain) as a common theme throughout the units.  I will continue this theme as more units get done.

As always Thank you and enjoy

Great looking miniatures - the paintjobs are wonderful. I am liking how you are using historicals to make such great Lord of the Rings style armies. They match very well.

Oooh, they are lovely. I like that you have painted them grey skinned rather than the usal black or red.

What scale are they?

Thank you Odo.

The thread is for the love of 15mm.  So these guys are roughly comparable to 28mm figures in actual size.

Hello all,

Here is a bit of fun.  This 15mm module castle set is also from Dungeons Artifacts on Etsy.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/880055256/winterdale-citadel-walls-modular?ga_search_query=castle&ref=shop_items_search_6&pro=1

I did a straight forward paint job of priming in black, airbrush basecoat in grey, back wash, and some light grey highlighting.  I was rather please.

This will be a scenario center piece or terrain for D&D encounters.  I do plan on crafting a keep for the center.

These two knights are trying to convince the guards to let them in as they are on a very important quest or a holy artifact.  The guards have just informed them that they already have one and to go away.

Thank you and Enjoy

That's actually really impressive for a filament print.

Can you see any layer lines at all?

The only place I really notice the layers lines was the door and some of the larger flat surfaces around the gate.  Here is a closer look.

For a "out of the box" Castle that you drop and play I think it serves really well.
