Great looking army. That dragon turned out really well. Nice job!

Hello,

This is the beginning of the Empire army to fight the undead horde. I have started with a nice core of halberdiers.  I was inspired by the buff coats found on ECW heavy cavalry.  I decided on the yellow/ochre color for their coats.  It contrasted nicely with the red of the regimental slash and red/brown of the gloves.

The figures are from the demonworld line available from Ral Partha.   Something important for this project is the durability of figures.  The demonworld line are nice one piece models without separate weapons or shields.  This make transportation and just make them tougher for play and wear.

I always struggle when doing mass assembly style painting.  It is great when they are done, but for me the process seems slow.  I much rather work on small groups to get that thrill of being done more often.

Enjoy the new beginning

I have painted many a 28mm army.  I use assembly line techniques, simple, fast block painting, followed by brushing on The Dip Technique.  It takes a long slog, but when I finish a group, I finish a large number all at once.

I recently began using brush tipped acrylic paint pens.  These reduced painting time, per figure, from 10 minutes, down to 5 minutes.  It works for me.  I have over 1,200 painted figures already.  Cheers!

Really cool! The undead army is spectacular, and I am looking forward to see the Empire completed.
