Warlord Games Australians for Crete?
« on: 13 September 2020, 02:21:54 PM »
Hi, I bought some Company B Aussies for Crete. They seem to be OOP. The project died a death for want of heavy weapons packs. I was surfing the net and looked at Warlord Games. I vaguely remember reviews saying they were very big 28mm. The Coy B figures are small 28mm. Would anybody who has purchased WG Australians have an opinion on the comparability of the figures. I'm not too hung up on size, unless they really are huge! Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the Aussies, but my Italians were compatible.

I’d be interested to see these WG Australian figures next to other companies.
I recall at the time of release many comments were made on how big they were!

Yeah, a common complaint was that the Warlord Australians were incompatible even with other Warlord plastics they were so big!

WG Australians for jungle are very nice 30-32 mm figures but are not usable for Crete anyway
I would recommend Perry's for mixing with Company B

Indeed, leaving aside the size the Warlord Australians are in the wrong uniforms. I’d suggest looking at the Artizan Design 8th Army troops. Good mix of trousers, shorts, pullovers and shirtsleeves. They look suitably scruffy.

Based on your comments and my own preference I have ordered several Artizan 8th Army packs and seperate slouch hat heads from Woodbine Designs and will do head swoops. I do like Artizan figures. Robust enough to handle an evenings wargaming. Cannot be bothered with plastics!

Outside of the SW Pacific the slouch hat was rarely worn in battle so head swaps are entirely optional.
