Michi paints Star Wars Legion
« on: 09 November 2020, 06:54:59 PM »
Far from being anywhere near Agis' fine SW Legion miniatures, but I will give them a try anyway. This is my first squad of Rebel Troopers:

They sure are a good-looking collection of assorted Rebel trash, I have been thinking of getting some imperials, but the price seems quite high. Do you think they're worth it?

Michi,
Fantastic painting, as always!

I've been resisting getting into SW minis but...
Are the Legion minis hard or soft plastic?

Thank you all for the kind comments!

Tom, these are somewhere in between, a rather soft hard plastic, I'd say. I bends rather than breaks, but isn't actually the soft plastic of toy soldiers.
The price is way too high for my wallet. I guess they could be much cheaper due to the numbers of them being produced (even with licensing still considered), but the market allows such steep prices (look at GW and others who sell single miniatures for the price of a pack of 5 miniatures from reasonable lead casters.

That's what I'm worried about, I don't think my painting skills are enough to make any amount of SWL Troops worth the money.

Lovely miniatures there! Hope to see more SWL from you. Did you get 3D printed extra heads or swapped with multiple sets?

While they are more expensive than most historicals, they are nowhere near GW pricing. For me they are well with it with nice sculpts, good quality and you get markers and unit cards with them, too. Newer models are “true” hard plastics which makes them even better.

You will, I am painting right now.
The Duros heads are head swaps from other sets of rebels from the core game box. I also swapped other heads and arms for variety.

With multiple sets you just have to make those swaps for variety. That’s limited poses are one of the drawbacks (at least for rebels), it can be dealt with. I was just surprised by the number of duros heads.
