Next Gear Krieg vehicle: The IS-2 Tesla Death Ray tank
« on: 06 September 2009, 10:29:41 AM »
Hi again,

I finished the next already shown Gear Krieg tank conversion - the pinnacle of Soviet engineering, the IS-2 Tesla death Ray tank!

The conversion is again based on a FoW tank, the Tesla gun is from the Allied weapon pack of DP9, the additional heat sink on the engine deck is from the GZG 15 mm building fittings and the plastic heat sink is a GW Tau part out of my “bits” box...

cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

Now THAT is totally sweet, nothing like my skepticisim with the Mantikor. Although I never quite understood why Tesla is always associated with the Soviets.

The Tesla Technology probably got passed on to the Soviets via Lend-lease.

Nikola Tesla
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla
was a serb born in Croatia, and his attitude was more "science for the good of everyone" as opposed to his rival Edison, who was not a genius, but a science and invention manager for the sake of his own pocket
maybe this could be the reason
however, he was not associated in any way with communism

btw, very nice work, the tank

Awesome, that's just the kind of weapon a mad science tank should have.  :)

Do you play Red Alert 2 by any chance?

That is the most awesome thing I've seen all day. You, sir, win.
I told you so. You damned fools.

Is your tank called "Rodney"? Or is my language-fu not working?

Lovely work by the way. Very nice (scary) looking tank.

The slogan reads "sa rodinu", "for the motherland", like in "dulce et decorum est pro patria mori".

On the other hand, that tank sports a mighty rodney, so you might be right after all...

Haha! OK, I'm rubbish at Russian. I'm so gonna need help when I paint slogans on my yet-to-be-built BoB airships (unless I call them "Sputnik" and "Vodka", which I won't...)

Is a "Rodney" 'some kind of eupemistic term for a bit that sticks out' then?

I used it as such for comedic effect... although that´s pretty low even for my pun standards, almost Austin Powers-level.

In the PC game it is an alternative WW2 where IIRC Hitler is assasinated and it is West V East. As a result there are weapons trees one of which is the Tesla system for the Reds :D

Agis, this WWWII-stuff is definitely not my cup of tea, but I really love your conversion stuff and painting style.
Brilliant work!
