Tim’s ongoing Oathmark outpouring.
« on: 16 July 2021, 04:55:52 PM »
Hi all
My first new topic here, so be gentle…..
I have just finished painting and basing some Oathmark Goblin wolves.  The riders will be along later, but I thought you might want to see them!
Hope they pass muster…..

Many thanks GG.  Really glad you like them.   Compared to some on here I’m just a journeyman though……

Very nice indeed! A great variety of natural-looking and convincing colour schemes too. Can't wait to see the riders!

Thanks Hobgoblin and Pattus.  Really glad you like them.  As to the colour schemes, well I’m no artist, more of an artisan.  I therefore collected twenty or so pictures of wolves off the internet and had them upon my PC when I painted.  After all, we would use references for historicals, so it’s logical to do that with animals.  I use the same techniques for horses and any other wild animals I need to paint.  It also works for fur cloaks and saddle skins etc..

Those Oathmark wolves have had a bit of stick on this forum but yours look great! The effort you put in researching colours has paid off, they look natural but with enough pop to stand out on the tabletop!

Excellent natural range of colours and as others have said you’ve made what I’d written off as ugly, clunky models quite beautiful. The pure white wolf is spot on too (I have a large all white Swiss Shephard x husky) they really are that bright (when clean). Thank you for posting.

Lovely painting I’m not keen on the sculpts themselves but the paint work is fantastic

Wow…thanks all.  I’m bowled over by these positive comments.  As to the sculpts, I can see why they’ve got a bit of stick, but the head end is excellent in my opinion.  They do look a little lionish from some angles, and some of the musculature looks like body fat rather than muscle, but over all they look like large wolves, which is kind of the point isn’t it……
