Andy Lilof has an article in this months Wargames S&S magazine on cutting up the plastics too.   

In simple terms though…..any plastic kit is fairly easy to modify…try swapping hands on arms, and position limbs how you want them, filling any gaps with a dash of green stuff.

absolutely. I think the main thing is to be aware of what you want to achieve from a box / frame. You can easily barrel off making figures and then realise you’ve not left XYZ bits for ABC figures
