Dunwich - the real place
« on: June 23, 2022, 06:48:52 PM »
Just got back from a short break on the Suffolk coast. One of the places I visited was the original Dunwich:

The name Dunwich itself may come from Machen's The Terror, where the name refers to an English town where the titular entity is seen hovering as "a black cloud with sparks of fire in it". see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dunwich_Horror

The fate of the historical Dunwich seems suitably Lovecroftian...

As Dunwich happened before Lovecraft, I'm more inclined to say that Lovecraft was Dunwichian... though if really looking for an author to compare it with the best example would be Poe!

Garrison Miniatures,
Read ST Joshi’s books on Lovecraft, if only it was that simple ;)
