Thank you sir.

So I’m home, and managed to base the minis.  Before that, I needed to sort out a banner, so as a small Front Rank order had arrived, I have done another couple as I still want a few more units for Percy.

Finished unit

He still needs another unit of bow and billmen, plus some men at arms.  I have to wait on a delivery for them, but I do have a cannon…..

Excellent work! The basing and unit trays tie them all together nicely.

That is quality painting.

Thank you sirs, glad you like them.

A question though please.

In the Perry set of archers, there are as many minis without livery jackets / tunics as there are with.

I have seen lots of people painting up the padded jackets with livery colours.  Is this historically accurate or simply painters licence?

For that matter, I’m assuming not every noble necessarily furnished his ranks with livery colours?

Still waiting on my Perry Order…..you’d think they were re sculpting the minis! 😉

However, as I’d purchased a few Front Rank minis to mix in, I have painted a field piece.

I decided to paint them in livery, mainly because I like them.  No idea if historically accurate but hey ho.

I have started on the next block of billmen, in so much as I’m painting a few Front Rank to mix in with the Perry minis.   As Percy will be looking after my main ward, I am making this a fairly large retinue.  Ultimately two mixed blocks of archers/billmen, one company of men at arms and the canon so a little way to go yet.

Whilst waiting, I’ve also made up a few strips of stakes (using Hobbycraft twigs)

That’s my thought for sure.
