Wow! I just caught up with this project! That last team…great modelling, but going back through your thread, I can’t wait to see some paint on all of these! Your painting is soo atmospheric and I love your blending of subtle colours! :-* :-* :-*

Very cool! Incredible work, can’t wait to see it painted :D

I a hoping to speed up the painting process using an airbrush for basic shadows and highlights followed by oil washes. I think the skin would benefit from oils, too. Need to think about it.

Outstanding work!  :o

Thank you!

Those look fabulous. As others said, very dynamic. Every base tells a story…

That was indeed the intent. Glad it works!

Absolutely brilliant! As has already been said, I can't wait to see the pained results.

I have some holiday scheduled in, so maybe I can get to the blood suckers.

Much obliged! I try to incorporate a certain number of colours on all team members for a cohesive look. For instance the blueish bone colour works quite well for this purpose. I do love magenta, too. Extremely versatile colour.

So far I made a skeletal Gathering, a vampiric pose and finally, some Zombies are in the works. I present my leader, Matthias the Savant.

"Rise! Rise!", his half rotten tongue formed the words, more of a guttural mutter. Slowly the corpse opened the coffin contorting his limbs. His eyes and tongue were long gone. But when you join Matthias' covenant you won't need eyes to see, as the liminal space between life and death cannot be witnessed that way. The priest's mouth formed a grotesque smile, lumps of flesh that once formed lips, showing too much blackened teeth. "Come, I have such sights to show you".

The Miniature is by Reaper, kinda oldschool. I removed his eyes and added a Mantic Zombie arms. The chap in the coffin is also a Mantic Zombie.

That's a great combo, should look really nice once it's painted up.

Thank you all. I will have an epic base-coating and airbrush session this weekend. Weather will be supposedly great.

I was not very successful on the painting front, but I got some games in on a great table built by my wargaming buddy Commissar Caos:

Great opportunity to take some atmospheric pictures of his superb terrain and various warbands that faced my gathering. Necropolis28 is really a fun game and I love how it handles advancement / campaign play. Not too complicated but enough potential to really improve your gathering.

Great pictures, and there are some very cool looking undead there!

I haven’t heard of Necropolis28 before, what’s it focus on? From the pictures it looks like an undead civil war, or a contest between necromancers to dominate the ruins.

It is indeed a skirmish game in a world where everything is undead (after an apocalyptic event). These gatherings now roam the crumbling world to unearth forgotten lore and treasures. I think of it as a world of spectres, half remembering their lives and just continuing their struggles as undead for eternity.

You need about 5 minis per side and some terrain. Games are around 1h, depending on scenario and banter.

There is also a companion app to help build a gathering: https://necropolis28.vercel.app/

Finally I found some time to paint up Von Falkov's Menagerie. I started with a Reaper Miniatures Werebat to test the colour scheme. Not entirely finished, but I will feature violet and Magenta heavily. I also made a start building a castle game board, however, the twist is that it is a red brick castle, so more northern German Gothic architecture. Test piece of the wall included.

C&C very welcome.

That test piece wall is spot on!!  Very nice work.

I'd missed the game pictures until now: what an exceptional table. Your purple werebat is really striking too.
