Cos we can't leave North America out of the mix. Try these. Really fun, feel good stuff.

Proving that the tuba is the most subversive instrument in the orchestra. Turns shitty Scandi-pop or shitty Aussie-pop into something worth hearing instantly.  Not only subverts Euro/Anglo pop but ranchero music at the same time.  :)

Vikingos del Norte, the world's best 'not quite a cover band'. Now if I was going to paint Vikings.....

In reply to the first one, I’m already familiar with Fatoumata Diawara, found her through her excellent collab with Gorillaz :D
I’ll check the rest out!

Interesting. Haven't been able to listen to Eno's ambient works for years but I do regularly roll out 'Here Come the Warm Jets'. First 'Japanese pressing' I can recall buying.

Blank Frank should not be heard anywhere near my gaming area for either playing to or painting to. It remains a great album but not for gaming soundtrack/intense concentration while painting.

BBC 6Music while I’m painting, partly because they introduced me to:

Have a listen to Wet Leg, Yard Act, and Last Dinner Party…

but mostly because they have Iggy Pop as a DJ!

I paint almost every afternoon when I return from work. I usually listen to Adam Carolla podcasts. He's funny and it helps me to keep up with what's going on in the news.

In terms of podcasts (we’re rather off topic now but that’s fine :D) I really enjoy Tom Holland on The Rest Is History. They’re very informative, and have a nice sense of humour too.

For a variety of reasons I rarely listen to music these days and have little if any knowledge of most of the artists mentioned but I’m nevertheless pleased to have read this thread for the immense gratification it has given me in not mentioning, let alone recommending, Sabaton or any any other exponent of military history metal. It is a genre that in my opinion has no conceivable reason to exist other than to make listeners question their life choices.

I'm currently looping 'The Witness' by Adam Jones (from TOOL). It's awesome painting music and I just can't get enough of the song:

“What use was time to those who'd soon achieve Digital Immortality?”
