BSC2024 Mr Tough Guy Wizard’s Workshop
« on: 26 February 2024, 07:23:39 AM »
The idea is a Wizard’s Workshop, although I might make it modern/sci-fi. So maybe more of genius workshop, the idea is basically a building that shows obvious signs of shit that has gone wrong, partly rebuild several times, holes in the roof, one wall with the (cartoony)outline of a creature/robot/something that has busted through the wall.

I'm also doing something wizard workplace related, so we should be approaching the same subject matter from different angles, which I always find particularly fun to see develop.

Best of luck!  :)

Progress has been slow, but I have finally started, here’s an early look at one of the walls

First time using this material, carving foam, easy to scribe but a bit messy, and more fragile than I thought, already managed to break it into two trying to carve out the outline, hopefully you won’t notice that I’ve glued it back together once I’m done.

That's a superb start - there's a story there already!  8)

Got the basic structure up, still missing one wall, but you get the idea, need to add some details and maybe some texturing, and need to decide if I keep it open and build an interior or close it up and than maybe add a courtyard or something.

The cartoon style b0dy shape hole in the wall is inspired.  lol

Build some doors and windows, and added a sort of balcony on the roof, and started adding some wooden beams and a bit of texture to the walls.
Still need to build a shutter for the big opening in the front, and figure out what to do with the top of the tower, thinking at least an acces hatch and some railings and maybe a telescope type thingie

build a platform for on top of the tower, think I need something between the tower and platform, maybe some supports or something

Looking great!

But you're taking it into a radically different direction than I had imagined when you first mentioned a wzard's tower...

Oh; and there should definitely be some supports under that platform  :)

Very cool this far.  Have you decided on an interior or are you going to close it up for time?

This is what I always like about the competition.  Everyone has a different take and everyone has a different concept for the stated builds.

Yeah, kinda making it up as I go along, the platform ended up a bit more sci-fi than I had inititially planned, but it think it does what i wanted it to.  maybe Wizard's workshop was a bit misleading and Genius Workshop would have been more appropriate, but then it's always wizards that are fucking about making weird shit that go wrong in the stories.

I'm definitely closing it up, I already don't think I have time to finish in time, in fact I'm pretty sure I won't make it as I'm leaving for Holidays on the 20th, I'm now just trying to get the build itself finished before I go, but I'm afraid I won't be entering a final pic in time, as I won't have time to paint it until I'm back. For now I need to finish the tower, finish texturing the walls, close up the big entrance, and I have some plans for a simple yard, with another surprise, that should be fairly simple to build.
