I hope you were wearing rubber gloves when you were inspecting his gondolas.

Coffee, pizza and gelato. What more could one ask for?  I am of course assuming there is wine with the pizza.

Just about ready to run the first game of Carnevale at Snapcase Hall. Vagabond is coming for a visit at the end of November. Vaggers will be Vlad Dracula and his Strigoi. I will be a Guild Capodecina. Really looking forward to this.

Here we have a Targoveti, a Hulking Moroi, a Romani, Vlad Dracula himself, Miriam (one of Dracula's brides), a Nosferatu and a starved Dhampir.

The Guild are represented by a Shadow Assassin, a Gondolier, a Citizen, a Capodecina, an Escort, two Butchers and a Pilferer.

In its eighth year, DevLAM '24 took place at Snapcase Hall and was a resounding success. Vagabond was able to attend for the full Monday to Friday and Doug ex-em4 was able to join us on the Thursday. This is an annual event and the only time we usually get together, face to face. The rest of the year, we have a private on-line game, weekly.

Many games were played, but the one that concerns this board is the game of Carnevale, which took place on the Tuesday. After the traditional bacon and egg banjos, the game commenced.

Firstly, here is a selection of views, showing the set-up. It was a long, narrow set-up, to fit in with the scenario we were playing, Escape the Fog.

AAR to follow...

I am looking forward to this as well as Vagabond's game on the same  terrain. I have already seen minis that I have never seen before  lol I am not sure that they would be conducive to the health of your old and faithful servant!
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

A strange fog has started to sweep through Venice. It moves mysteriously, affecting any open areas, but drifting round buildings. The fog rots exposed food within seconds and any person touched by it will find their skin start to blister and burn. It spreads slowly but will catch unwary souls. Get away from it as quick as possible!

We played the Escape the Fog scenario. The fog inexorably moved forward, the distance moved determined by a dice throw at the end of each turn. Characters touched by the fog suffered damage. Points were scored for live characters exiting at the other end of the board, so basically, a running fight, canal-side in the madness of a Venice night!

The Strigoi, led by Vlad 'Vagabond' Dracula.

The Guild, led by Capodecina Scattocaso.

The action begins as a Citizen attacks the Dhampir and one of my Butchers leaps onto some floating detritus, aiming for the scurrying Strigoi.

Two Guild members and seven Strigoi, could be fatal odds, but the area is very confined and not everyone had a target.

Capodecina Scattocaso jumps up onto the balcony, above the fray.

The Escort and the Pilferer move up, away from the menacing fog.

The Gondolier and the Shadow Assassin take over a nearby gondola. Well, what else was the Gondolier going to do?

The first Butcher is severely wounded and makes a run for it, down the back passage. His brother Butcher hurries over the bridge, to help.

The fog advances and a Butcher has hurled Dracula into the canal, much to Vlad's chagrin!

A Butcher crosses the canal.

The fight continues over a fishy gondola and the second Butcher is in the drink.

Various manoeuvrings.

The fog advances again.

The Nosferatu (who's about 700 years old and quite fragile) is shuffling towards the end of the board, when a Butcher tries to cleave him in twain. The Moroi is having none of it.

...and it looks as if the Assassin and Vlad himself are about to be immersed in the strange fog.

The Butcher is ambushed in the back passage, by the Moroi.

Nosferatu is still shuffling along...

...and leading the Strigoi pack on the home straight.

The Guild survivors make for safety on their side of the canal.

All home in time for Limoncello and Maritozzi!

The Guild lost two members en route, but all the Strigoi survived, so a victory to the Strigoi. A great game and many thanks to Vagabond, as he took all the photos whilst I commanded the rule book! The game played really well and we soon got the hang of it. It was great to get a proper game on the terrain, after so long building it.
