Awesome stuff Jet. The graveyard captures all the images you expect from a Hammer Horror film cemetary. Twisted Dead trees, imposing mausoleums and broken graves. Excellent. ;D

Thank you again for your compliments folks.  My wife is a self-employed nail tech, so when she has a client at night (like tonight), after my son is tucked away in bed, off the geek room I go (or went, as the case is).

First up, I played around with the layout of the Asylum table.  As you can see, I tried to keep it intentionally sparse, and I've abandoned my idea of making a bunch of walls.  Like the cemetery, I'll assume (and hopefully create the illusion) that the walls are off-table.

The Asylum sprayed.  I can't wait to paint it.  ;D

The bulk of the evening was spent making various little cardboard planters and garden doodads.  I hope when these are painted up (mostly stone) and populated with model plants they'll look the business.

Stay tuned.  I'm hoping to have a productive weekend,
JET

Gentlemen and Ladies;

Although I still have to paint the asylum and its occupants, I thought that I would share some of my recent progress with the garden pieces I've been working on for the asylum grounds.

The large heads (before one of you asks  :D ) were given to me by Marc, and he originally acquired them from a friend who was cleaning out.  We have no idea where they are from, so feel free to enlighten us.  I'm not quite sure if I'll include them on the asylum grounds or not, or if I'll "save" them for other settings (i.e. cursed ruins in the middle of the woods for a dark ritual scenario.)

The various pots and planters are populated with different combinations of dollar store plastic plants, lichen, Woodland Scenics greenery, and a few coloured bits.  The two types of pots were bought at Michael's .  They can be found in the the craft wood section of the store, and are sold in small bags of about 8 pieces for around $2.00.

In the meantime, thanks again for the very generous compliments, and please stay tuned as I try to make my way through the asylum, Dr. Grunberg, and his "clients."  ;)

Great stuff, Jet!

LOL!  I have about a dozen of those plastic columns.  never got around to using them, except as spacers between boxes of buildings and stuff that are works in progress.

I don't suppose you are anywhere near St. John's, Newfoundland?  :D

Just to keep you all updated, the asylum is painted, and one more session will see the inmates finished as well. I've also primed up the rest of the asylum "cast," including Dr. Grunberg, his daughter (or sister), and the groundskeeper along with his faithful hound.  I would say that this chunk of the project will be finished this weekend.

Chris has also reported that Sir Thrustam and his canine companion Rutter are done.  Last night, I believe he was putting the finishing touches on Ms. Poundwood (that didn't quite come out right  lol ).  All he has left to do is to paint Prof. Alcock and he'll be ready.  I also recieved an email confirmation a couple of days ago that my Westwind order was shipped, so Marc will probably have his Mad Doctor and friends in his possession by next weekend.

The stars are aligning my friends... >:D

  I just recieved my copy of the rules from old glory yesterday, here in the uk. I was quite impressed,as they are clearly written , no waffle or confusion and they are not overlong either. All in all , a nice set of rules, and i can't wait to try them out. With Salute fast approaching ,my shopping list is growing.
     My thanks to the rule writers

Glad to hear you bought it.  I'm sure it will bring you much enjoyment.  :)

In the meantime, I've added another gallery post to the blog now that the asylum and grounds are finished.  Lots of photos and background here: http://geektactica.blogspot.com/2010/03/grunbergs-lunatic-asylum-for-criminally.html

In the meantime, here's a few shots to whet the appetite;

Now to paint some more models.  I've have two more inmates to finish off and then I have to paint some of the countryside's inhabitants.

Wonderful stuff, the ornamental flower beds look excellent.  :-*

If I was to make one small observation. Paint the windows on the asylum - either black or paint glass effects. I think that would finish them off . bUt its a minor quibble. Overall a stunning project. Cant wait to see some game reports. ;D

I'm actually thinking about following a suggestion from one of the guys in the group.  He thought that I might be able to paint a dark rich red with a touch of highlight to represent thick brocade-style curtains.

Although we haven't started the actual campaign yet, we did manage to get another couple of learning games in tonight.  Some of you will see some new models in the pictures.  First of all, Chris tried out his Intrepid Leader, Sir Thrustam Mannleigh along with his dog Rutter.  I also tried out one of the escaped asylum inmates that I finished painting lately.  Finally, Chris H. (or the other Chris, if you like) tried out a learning game with his newly-completed Bruderschaft warband.  His models are mostly converted GW plastics that he built from left-over bits, so they really never cost him anything.

Looks like a great game. The model for Rutter is really cool. You sold me on buying the Loup Garou too. He looks like he's going to tear those former Mordheimers to pieces.
