I am really considering this game. How simple would you say it is and is there the option for generic gangs? I have LOADS of near future stuff for an old project...  ::)

It's simple enough with the obvious "but there's a depth to it".

You can use your old minis just fine. You might find that having guns will limit the amount of figures you can bring. Guns are good... so guns are expensive.

The new rules are free to download (http://ramshacklegames.co.uk/nuclear/downloads.html) and you can get a good feel of them. I haven't had a chance to play yet but they seem very streamlined and solid to get going with.

I agree with Thor. So many models can be used and can be fitted into the rules without too much trouble. The fewer guns the better for the points reason but you can make a gun heavy gang if you like, just recognise that you won't have so many members because of the cost.

Give the rules a read through as I think you'll be impressed. Also try some of the models as they are so well priced and have so much character.

I will of course try the models if I try the game.

Just wondered as I have an awful lot of Post Apocalypse bits and bobs. Not quite of the same ilk though.

I should have been more clear. Yes you absolutely can use other models in the game system. The character generation process allows for all sorts of different types of models and armaments so basically the more the merrier. As Thor says though, guns are a big deal in NR and so models with good guns would be very expensive points-wise.

Dont forget the vehicles. Its all about the vehicles. Most gangs weve been playing with have 1 to 3 guns in, but at least as many vehicles. We are playtesting the campaign rule sat the moment, and Im playing the giggles clan that comes in the book, but we have played a few games and so Ive updated it a bit, Im at about 750 points now. I have 2 guns(a shot gun and a flamer), 2 close combat dudes, a driver, a bard and a medic, although the bard can now heal too.

THe campiagn winner at the moment has a bike gang, so has 7 bikes, 3 guns.

However, the single over powered figure gang can work too. But yes, the gang generation is very open to interpretation, so can be played with pretty much what you have. As the others say its free to download so you can have a look.

Cheers guys.

As the models are so cool, I imagine I will buy the starter set soon regardless of whether I enjoy the system at all!  ;)

Ah yes the vehicles, who can forget them?

I've currently got the following though they aren't all assembled or pointed up in the new rules:

 - Pickup truck
 - Boneyard truck with muchos guns
 - Huntsman spider tank
 - Chimera traction engine
 - 2 bikers
 - 2 Half-Utes
 - Many spare parts (thanks Curtis) so I should be able to knock up a few more vehicles from these.
 - More vehicles on order.

Mmmm the smell of burning fuel and rubber in the morning rad-wastes.

God I want a huntsman. If not for this, for Panzerfauste...

At the moment Im working on riders for the bikes. They will be metal multi piece models. Actually, they are generic riders as I intend to make some riding beast to fit them too!

Ive been doing the weapons this week, onto actual putty work next week. Hopefully they should be out soon, as they are coming on quite quickly.

Ive got a couple of bikes too that are built but need tweaking and moulding up. Will probably get them done to go with the riders too, but may be a little after.

Then its onto some more militaristic dudes, mutants, zombies, beasts and the rules for them all!

Oh! I guess I'll have to get scrap knights before I thought then. I love the idea of a motorcycle gang.

In other news I did some terrain... or sort of did it. I'm quite sure that I couldn't possibly have done it more wrong with the paint on this one - there's way to much black showing... and that just doesn't work for me.

It's meant to be the dwelling of my dunger farmer. The pen is for the most troublesome dungers. The rest are allowed to loiter about on the grounds (keeping other people off the grounds..)

I hope I can improve upon it with some posters and stuff.. and perhaps a "No Trespassing"-sign.

 :o lol

I think that you are being a bit hard on yourself.  That terrain looks great to me.

Im not sure what the issue that you have with the black is: is it the black inside the buildings that bothers you?  Or is it that every colour on the piece is black in the recesses?

I dont think that it matters either way really, it still looks great to me.  I quite like terrain pieces to have a slightly different paint style than the miniatures used to game on it.  I think that it can help to make the focus of the game (the toy soldiers) stand out.

The look of the buildings is very in keeping with the style of the Ramshackle figures too in my opinion.

I hope I can improve upon it with some posters and stuff.. and perhaps a "No Trespassing"-sign.

Absolutely, but it is more than adequate as is IMO.

I'm alone with my three kids (toddlers) the whole of the next week though so I probably won't get a lot done...  lol

They dont seem to be cramping your style *that* much... ;)

Looks great! QUit moaning!

Only things, I would have maybe used plasticard for the roofing, opposed to card, but it still does the same job and is a fraction of the price really.
A no trespassing sign wouldn't go amiss either!  :)

But yeah, stop being hard on yourself. Might offend someone who wishes they could do that well! :)

Ahhh!
Perfectionist is just another way of saying you take longer to make things than others!

I was told that in a professional situation and now I never use the word!

Nah, a bit of perfectionism is important though. But 100% done and 99% finished is better than 100% finished and 99% done. You can use it sooner that way!

Curtis, if I may make a suggestion.  Your vehicles scream for mounted weapon upgrades.  Nothing fancy just a heavy machine gun (chain gun, .50 cal, etc.), a missile launcher, small arms (rifles, shotguns, etc.) and what not.  I was thinking along the lines of Stan Johansen stuff in 28mm.  Thanks.
