A return to the Empire - update (4/10) - Abandoned Gatehouse

I've had some time to paint, so next up are two dwarves and another ogre. All classic marauder minis.

A line-up of the 4 painted ogres (so far). I did a few minor touch-ups to the leader to bring him closer to my current painting standard.

4 more marauder empire-themed dwarfs. Not as happy with these as with the other ones (yellow highlighs too harsh for one), but they'll do fine.

Looking pretty neat - wish my yellows were so clean - do they use Daz colourfast? 

Cracking minis too - love the pipe smoker!

Until recently, I also struggled with yellow. The trick to get a bright clean yellow is to paint it first with a colour that will cover anything that would bleed through (including black) and that adds to the vibrance of the yellow. I use coat d'arms bilious brown (which is an orange-ochre type light brown). It also serves as shading in the folds.

Love the beard on the guy with the yellow cap! Think they all turned out great. Looking forward to see a few spear men soon. =)

I hope to get a chance at gaming with them someday.
But not enough painted yet and I doubt I'll get enough done before the next Eurobash organised by the warhammer empire forum.

No local club or no time? I happen to be the chairman of a large vibrant club located conveniently in just the next town. There is also a club in the town I presently live in. Do I get a regular game? Nope, long hours and 20 month old son put paid to that! Occasional quick skirmish game if my brother pops over is all.

Hope you get to field them soon, collecting and painting is all well and good but they were cast to do battle.

4 more empire-themed dwarfs. The one with the eyepatch and pegleg is actually an old citadel Bugman's rangers champion, but he had the right look, so he joined this unit. The two in the middle came with seaprate plug-in hands (I also have handguns and spears for these guys). The one with the helmet and breastplate is a conversion of one of the speardwarves (not an original, but a recast) with a plastic crossbow.
