A return to the Empire - update (4/10) - Abandoned Gatehouse

Finally had some time to finish something. 6 more WK-dwarfs. Nothing too fancy, just tabletop standard.
No conversions, all are assembled from the sets as they are. 4 with spears/pikes and 2 with halberds.

For some reason, this one gives me a vibe of Warwick Davis with a fake beard:




I wasn't very fond of this head initially, but when I put it on this body and started applying paint, it all sort of came together. Also pleased with the red on this figure.


Normally there wouldn't be this gap visible from the side between the beard and the belly, but it's mostly due to me putting his head at a slight angle, bringing it more forward. Only noticed after I started painting.

VERY COOL...the Vertically Challenged ones have an abundance of charm. I love the reddish tint to their noses...shows a certain devotion to their cups. As always, VERY WELL DONE!

Got my 16 dwarfs yesterday and I'm still drooling when looking at them  - and now seeing some of them painted so nicely really makes me want to start doing my own. But shouldn't - other projects with high priority I need doing this month - like Asterix's, a Marauder-ish Chaos Dwarf and some old Pickford gems. Hopefully I'll be able to control myself and not get distracted

I thought I'd try my hand at a couple mastercastings of infantry sets two and three (next in line for productionmoulding). I armed both with spears/pikes and I think they turned out pretty well.

This one has got to be my favourite of the plug in type bodies:


And with some Marauder dwarfs with similar poses.

The weapon shafts are the same length, it is just that they are a bit more at an angle on my figures. Overall, I think they match op pretty well:


I haven't painted any of the marauder plug ins with the spear variant yet, but at least this gives a good comparison of the bodies:

Looking good - a unit of those pikemen is going to brilliant with those front rankers with pikes levelled!

While John is busy expanding the range of ponies and riders, I fixed up a set of slightly flawed mastercastings and applied some paint to them. The bases are standard plastic cavalry bases (50mmx25mm). I think they ended up looking pretty sharp.

Wow these look fantastic!! Very cool sculpts and a great paint job. I think both you and John out did yourselves with these guys. I can't wait to add them to my army.

Flipping ace, both models and painting! Saying this might get me a bad rep, but I love the ponies!   I will be getting some of these! Any update on riders on foot, btw? =)

Well, they serve alongside human troops and their leggy warhorses. They have gotten used to the mockery and the taunts because of their small stature and have decided that they may have to take this crap from their allies, but they sure as hell won't stand for it from their foes...

Sometimes I'm tempted to paint up a couple pink and blue, my little pony style.

Then the urge passes and the world if safe again for a while.
