I made a post earlier about our little pirate game campaign that we where thinking of starting up. We got hold of some rules set, and decided to use Legends of the High Seas, at least initially, until Black Scorpion releases their Cutlass! wich seems to be something more in line with what we want to play. We have also been thinking about using the Mordheim rules, since it is still a very nice and fun game.

However... we wanted to have a full weekend of building and painting, and hence invited a few friends over (girlfriend and baby girl are away), prepared meat for to be grilled and a suitable amount of tropical fruits and freshly baked bread... hiaarrr!

My girlfriend fixed up a Welcome Flag :D

Me... my right arm... yes I like pirates, hehe (my girlfriend have the same tatoo on her upper left arm). I am resting my arm on a link to a Panzer IV, it was recovered in Estonia

Starting out the first boat project, Kalle cutting and gluing. A Amall Ship accordingly to the rules

A suitably confusing enviroment... ambivalence! :D

Making progress

More progress on the ship, and the beginning of a Skull Island gaming board

I will post more pics when we get somewhere on the gaming tables!

Thank you sir, but the Indian hat is not mine, its Kalles, he just became a member of the forum by the way... finaly one might say hehe.

Some more progress... between the eating and watching movies, cutting up the skull to prepare it to become a pirate cave on my little island. We are planning 4 60cmX60cm tables, and then one 120cmX60cm. All the smaller ones will belong to the players, and will be used for smaller encounters and scenarios, representing our small private pirate islands in the campaign. The larger one will be the main habour and pirate town.

Ohoy!

It was great fun, and certainly very productive. We managed to get hold of most of the materials we needed, and could start the work on some of the smaller board.

That's an interesting way of doing things! I'd like to see pictures of them when they are finished.

I love the pirates I bought from you, they are, to say the least super nice, as we say in old Svedala. It inspired me to get all the rest of the Black Scorpion undead pirates, and a bunch of the others. We got two NPC gangs as well.

We got our MDF today... unfortunatly we have to cut them up again, since they are not quite in the dimensions that we wanted them :S
However, even though is a small issue, it did steal a whole day of building our smaller 60cm X 60cm tables. Tomorrow its a tour in the city, to find suitable resin for water related stuff.

Both Wentzells and Material sells the the stuff, Woodland Scienics and Vallejo. May I suggest that you consider paint, gloss coat and  glue gun for choppy seas with  short waves?

We are aware of those products, and I have some of it at home, however, for larger areas of water two part resin is to be considered, especially if you want a few cm of water. I would like to add some debris and perhaps a shark to the water, hence the need for some depth.

Got some nifty little skull and crossed bones neclace jewelry stuff today, perfect for making banner tops or putting on the aft of the boat as decoration.
