I'm certainly feeling the pressure now but looking to Easter to be the opportunity to catch up plus I've also got Thursday off next week, have to see what I can get done Thurs to tue next week
The garden's just going to have to wait and I've declined an opportunity to play team golf on more than 1 occasion through this LPL o_o
My wife is great about it all and really helps me choose the pics that I enter, she's even been known to log in whilst I'm at work to check on entries lol

I never got my invite to vote this week. Good thing I stopped in just at the last minute. ;-)

You're not kidding, there's some really nice entries and match-ups this round!

I have to agree, some of the best entries so far.
Only bad thing is that I am rightly getting trounced this round :'(, no way I can compete against such a beautifully staged and brilliantly painted entry well done Dr.

I also had a rough time getting finished in time, this week.  I am amazed at how many others also went with smaller scales for the Tolkein round.  Seeing the detail and shading that others put in on 10mm makes me think I can work to improve my skill.  And I guess that is a great by-product of this league: working hard and experimenting to improve your painting.

Very true Mike... The competition here really encourages to step up your game
Doesn't it?

The same is true photography... I realize I have a long way to go

Based on this and previous rounds, I have come to the conclusion that there are three standards of entries in this competition:

1 Excellent;

2 Outstanding; and

3 I'm so far below what's here I'm giving up and going back to flytying.

Congratulations to every single entrant. There are so many pairs where it is so incredibly difficult to decide whom to vote for!

To be honest I'm not too keen on the theme of this round. Many great entries, but all in all it's mostly LOTR stuff (my entry included) and it gets a bit much in the long run.

There does seem to be a lot of the New Line/GW models showing up. Although I have to respectfully disagree IMHO it is awesome to see them and some of the paint jobs that have been applied to them. I think this is one of the best rounds so far. Maybe the mass of LOTR models available and its enduring popularity has slanted the round toward it.

I am guessing that you wanted to see some of Tolkien's other stories being illustrated?

I found it actually quite hard for a 5vs5 of `heroes` and `villains`, guess that`s why we have so many rohan vs wargs (incl mine)

Not really... =) I knew it would be a lot of fellowships, uruks and rohirim. I've got nothing against that or the models from GW, I quite like them. It's just that the theme is a little restrictive and leads to rather samey entries which gets a bit repetitive. So mainly feedback to Prof W or whoever will decide on themes in future LPLs. Wide abstracts (like "movie scene" or "maritime") are a lot better than specifics. It would've been cool with "fantasy novels" rather than just "Tolkien". This round have plenty of technical skill, but only one made me go "hey, would you look at that - what a clever entry" and that's Dr Mathias' (once again, ace job!). Not blaming anyone or pointing any fingers, I did a fellowship vs uruk entry myself. =D

I love LOTR but never bought any miniatures for some reason.  This was a good excuse to paint some figures for my friend and his kids. One had rangers and the other Easterlings so my force composition was easy.  lol
