Hi there, I love the choice of colors of yours.

Are the minis for use in dungeoneering? I ask beause there are no patches of grass on the bases.

All in all LOVELY old style miniatures. Please keep 'em coming.

Best regards
GS

I would actually love to build a dungeon for these fellows to fight on!
I just haven't added grass and mushrooms to the bases yet.

OOOH! MORE COOL OLD STUFF! The new Old Guys look TERRIFIC sporting their snazzy paint jobs & bases. Your Mushroom are SPECTACULAR; they add spots of color & interest to both the bases & the minis. VERY WELL DONE!

I really like what you are doing with the bases. Nice paintjob, too.
I think any time soon i will have to take some time and spend some extensive time on your blog.

I popped over to your blog and had a look at these individually and I must say they are wonderful. You use muted tones yet get so much separation between your lowest points and your highest points.  I have real difficulty with darker tones and am struggling with my first goblin.

I've very much enjoyed looking at your work  :D

Thanks OLeary!
The wet palette technique really helps as I like to mix my colors and muddy them up.
Give it a shot!

I've really only painted fantasy humans up to now and the whole skin thing is really tough for me. I've not tried a wet palette yet and with the warm weather coming, I probably should.

Thank you for the advice  :-*

Wet pallettes are super handy, and you can knock one up fairly easily out of an old tin, blister pack sponge and some baking parchment... link:http://deadleadproject.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/ghetto-wet-palette.html

It's a LOT easier painting with thinned paints with one of these (before, I ended up wasting a lot of paint as it kept drying up on my painting tile...)

I finally got over to the blog to see the close-ups. Awesome! I love your muted palette, yet there is so much definition in the muscles and folds of robes. Great smooth transitions in the shading too!

Keep sending those warm weather tips, please! It was 86 deg F here yesterday. (Of course, it was like 55 deg by the time I went out to the grill to cook dinner.)  :(
