Just a quick note to address the fixer I use.

I have only ever used Krylon Matte Finish 1311 spray.

http://www.krylon.com/products/matte-finish/

It went over the pigments fine and did not distort them at all.
It has never given me a problem and I have used it on hundreds of miniatures over the last few years, except once.
I used a really old can, with only a little bit left in the bottom of it. I probably should have shook it up more as well.
It left some white spots on the minis that weren't terribly noticeable that eventually went away.
I highly recommend it.

Aggro 84's Fantasy Thread - Some new WIPs
« Reply #241 on: 02 May 2015, 08:41:29 PM »
Wow. Almost a full year and a half since I have posted anything!
I finally set up a painting table again and I have been slowly getting back into a painting groove.
I took these WIP shots to look at and check for areas that need touching up.
I figured I might as well share them.

The Goblin (2nd from the left) was the first one I have painted in years.

These Thugs are the least complete of the lot. I am not sure what color to do the thug in the middle's hair so I have left it as is for now. Any thoughts of a suitable hair color?

Very nice muted tones as always aggro. Those bases are swimming in different colours, that's some very attractive basing sir. 8) 8)

Nice to see you back with a brush in hand.

Cheers
Matt.

I think you should change the topic to "Fantastic" Thread. Really enjoyed looking through the pictures, and your step by step tutorials come in handy too. Great ways to make a miniature come "alive". Thanks for the inspiration  :).

Thank you all for the kind words. It is very good to be painting again.
verd, I decided to do orange hair for the Thug in question. I already have some red haired ones and I wanted to do something different, so I decided to go with orange instead.  :D

Anyways, here are some finished (more or less) photos of these guys.

I haven't varnished sprayed these guys yet, so I might go back and touch up a few things now that I am looking at some of the photos blown up again. All around though, I'm fairly pleased with the results.

Looking back, I really think I need more Gobbos now!

I really really love the middle guy in the second to bottom picture.  Fantastic color choices on a very characterful miniature.  Where is he from?

Looks like a GW Lord of the Rings mini to me, like a undead eldar.

SPLENDID WORK! The Old Guys are some of the FINEST pieces I've seen you do...love the Deadites in particular. There are some old friends in the mix as well as some that are new to moi, but they are all WONDERFUL.
