Wow that looks awful - also what's with all of the 'DEFIANCE GAMES!' stuff all over the sprue?  Silliness.

So what's the deal, these are a new type of crappier plastic?

They do look rather shoddy compared to GW, Warlord or Perry plastics. Pity really as the concepts could work.

Interesting. I cracked open the second box of Bugs last night and the bases were fine. A single base out of 30 seemed a bit thin, but the rest were good. No miscasts or any of that nonsense.

Oh, and the plastic they are using is a spin-cast-friendly hard plastic, rather than the high-impact polystyrene normally used. This means they don't need to spend thousands of dollars on molds capable of standing up to extremely high pressures. The downside is that, apparently, they are still learning how to mass-produce with it.

Hmm, seeing those comparison shots makes me think about how they'll work at 20mm? They'd be big and scary, that's for sure...

Yep, that's always the beauty of bugs.  They could be freakin' Tyranid Bio-Titans in old school Epic 40K.

I've updated my post on the Dakka thread above with a more-extensive review. For you edification of you lovely gents, I will post the size comparisons. They do work well with 15mm, by the way, being monstrous horrors able to go toe-to-toe with small mechs.

Didn't check how many there are but they are large models, about 90mm in length and 55mm in height according to a TMP posting from DG.

The postures are odd with these ones as well (cf. a good number of DG human builds seen). Cutting off the tail ends and making the upper ends emerge from tunnels/holes would be my suggestion for anyone keen on these.
