Picking up the tomahawk(Update 15.03.13 French Marines added)
« on: 02 November 2012, 06:43:34 PM »
The French and Indian War skirmish element has been a dream project of mine for many years, but until now I wasn't quite sure how to start and so after spending far too long procrastinating I decided to get on with it and jump in! What better way to start the project off then with the iconic Indians who add so much colour and give that special look we all have come to associate with the period.

These Indians are from Redoubt and I just really like them! The figures are quite large with a lot of character which is a big plus for me. Most of their packs are very good indeed, with a few not of the same quality so check before buying.

Working on some background pics as I need the practice so I hope you like it. More pics on my blog http://christopher-bunkerhill.blogspot.de for those interested.

The rules I have in mind are Muskets and Tomahawks and This Very Ground. I don't like square bases for my skirmish figures so I'll simply state the middle of a figures chest is his facing which comes into play in the former rule set.

Thanks for viewing! :)

Excellent work, the black warpaint paint looks great.

I have a fair few of the Redoubt packs as well and agree that the quality can be hit-and-miss (mainly on the later packs I find) but the range in general is great.

Excellent work sir. Like yourself I like round bases for single figures, I,ve recently started to cut my bases - round at the front and square at the rear this solves any problem of facing for me.  See " In the forest of the Iroquois " post. I enjoy your site by the way.

Wonderful paintwork Christopher. These are still my favourite woodland indian figures. Some others out there might be finer or more accurate, and Redoubt aren't generally up there in the Premier League of wargames figure makers... But there's something about this range where they really captured the sinewy, hawkish demeanour of the woodland indian.

Until they changed sculptors midway through the range that is... The final couple of Indian packs and most of the European troops and irregulars are hideous   ::)
