I picked up a set of rules and tokens last weekend at Southern Front, our local miniatures convention here in Raleigh.

I sold off five boxed copies at the convention, but mostly to buddies who had been playtesting etc.  I hope to have time this weekend to really put in some work on the PDF, as I've become invigorated again with the project.  I was getting "reckless" and trying too hard to put stuff to paper, which ended up with me deleting a good dozen pages.

I do hope to have a PDF copy of the cards available sometime when I figure out how to format them correctly so they print in proper sizes etc.  This will be cheaper than the boxed cards, but will allow people to download and play on the cheap.  The card sets (boxed and unboxed) will remain available.

I picked up a couple of good ideas and errors at the convention...I also learned that when you plan on hosting a Cowboy game, it's often important to actually bring cowboy miniatures with you... :?

So you had your gladiators with you instead?  ;)

So we can buy the rules pdf directly from you?

The rules PDF will remain free.

The rules PDF w/ cards included in the PDF will be $10.

The card sets will remain available at $25 (unboxed) and $30 (boxed).

Confused yet?  lol (and yes, I had my gladiators with me...just...no cowboys, but I had some buddies there who luckily scrounged up some Old West figures for me to use!)

So, Poco, you're not going to need to buy anything.  You're good to go.  I just wanted to include the option to play it "on the cheap" especially for other international customers.  This will also provide a cheap way for players to play the game, decide if they want to actually invest in some proper cards.  As this is a new development anyone who has purchased cards and feels screwed by the new cheaper alternative on the way can contact me and I'll give you a refund out of my own pocket.  I'm not here to screw anyone over.  I just think a cheaper PDF option is a reasonable addition.

Oh, almost forgot...I snapped a handful of pictures from the convention (forgot to the entire first game, so I only snapped shots of the board).  The second game (the huge one) was played on a buddy's table, since we were sharing.  This table saw lots of action with four different games from different periods being played out on it over the weekend!

The large game started slow (I think a few too many players, some disinterested from the get-go).  It ended up in a ridiculous nail-biter with kids screaming, and a seriously close finish...

Glad Brian and I could help with the figures!

Yup, I see in the pictures where the the Miniature Building Authority fences kept falling apart.  Ug! Brian was so disturbed by this, he is gluing them together and touching up the paint jobs.

We may have to do a Day of the Dead Game next year.

Those walls just need some pegs (you could easily pin it somehow so they'd work.  Also I had kids in the game so...everything that got touched was knocked over.  lol

Update:

Firstly, apologies for the PDF mailing group...I've been going round and round on the campaign rules.  I've written and deleted them about a dozen times.  Can't find that "got it" version just yet.  I am sitting here surrounded by stacks of notes/paper (crumpled and clean!), heck even boxes and envelopes have ended up with notes on them... :?

I have transposed all of the cards to a PDF version which will be available shortly.  The PDF cards will require 30-35 pages of print, double that if you wish to print backs/fronts.  I do not have the software to prepare the files so they could be printed on double-sided prints.  I will be dropping by the local print shop to test the quality of the PDF version of the cards before putting it up for sale.

While this is not the best solution it will make the game cheaper for players, particularly those abroad.  I hope that with some nice card stock the cards will be plenty useful (particularly if placed in card-holders/protectors).  It will also offer a cheaper option for the stingy types.   ;)  The PDF rules will remain free.

The PDF cards will be around $10, with a discount for multiple copies (though to be fair, I know a file such as this can be easily sent all over the internet...just hope that isn't the case with most fellas).  Will post back when I have tested the PDF quality.

The PDF of the cards will be $10.

The card sets remain on sale from Gamecrafter for $25/$30.

The PDF cards are just to make the game more readily available, though by the time you print the cards out on cardstock etc. it may be as pricy as just buying the cards outright.  However, with it costing me $35 minimum to ship a damn box to the UK, I want to make the game accessible to people in other countries.

Update:

Went to the local Office Max here and had some test sheets printed off for the PDF cards.

Overall not bad at all, on heavy cardstock.  I'm going to see if I can design them so they can be printed double-sided, as they're two-piece construction now.  I've slotted the character card into one of the "gaming tarot" sized sleeves.  The detail is a bit less than the actual printed cards, but is completely acceptable.  The PDF version will be available when I determine if I can set the pages up for back-to-back printing (if anyone does design and can help me, please let me know!)

I could give a hand with that...  I've got a fair bit of experience at page layout and stuff like that, and know how to use the tools I've got on my Mac (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro).  I'm also interested in the subject - just starting out with 'Old West' gaming, and trying to decide on which rules to use.

Elbows any plans on attending Fall In! in Lancaster PA in November?
A dash of salt. A pinch of make believe. A dose of wishful thinking. A smidgen of truth. There you now have the recipe for a rumor.

Um...I'm thinking about it.  I know some of my buddies are going - so I may try to.  Depends on the cash flow, just sheer gas money becomes several hundred dollars from here to there.  I used to live in PA nearby though, so it'd be a drive I know very well.

Also I've never hosted at a big-time convention...more off-the-cuff stuff locally.  I'd imagine I'm probably too late to host (not that I wouldn't still love to attend it).  I'll check it out.

Checked their page...I had a few days left to register.  I threw in a GM request, so we'll see if they have room.  If so, yep, I'll be attending.
