Good review of Strange Aeons, you obviously love the game and it comes across that way.

Not too sure what you mean by 'American gamer' opposed to 'Euro gamer' as I cannot see any difference really, we are all of us, deep down, just gamers.  ???

As for the pictures: Thats fine, mate.  :D

Unless you're into the "board game scene" it probably sounds weird. There's three main categories of board games:
Ameritrash (American-style) which are games like Axis and Allies, Heroscape, Arkham Horror, and so on. Games with dice.
Euro Games: Games like Settlers of Catan, Agricola, Puerto Rico. Mostly dice-free, games of "wit" with little to no luck.
Abstracts: Chess, Mancala, and the like.

Thanks for the great review! I've always said it about myself but it is great to hear someone else say "Uncle Mike doesn't f#@k around'. I may quote you on that in the future.  :)

I think this is the review that pushes me over the edge. I really want to try this out now, even though my mini painting skills are minimal. Great review, thanks.

@Mike: Don't be surprised if you start receiving requests for review copies and whatnot, because I have a very wide audience. On my site alone that article has had 412 hits since publication, and it's on boardgamegeek.com (people tend to hate me there because I really like to piss those people off)  as well as on FortressAT.com, which is the second most watched board game site.

In a week or so, you'll see it on GMS Magazine's website (they publish my stuff) and more likely than not many other aggregators (read: content thieves) will reprint it. That GMS Magazine bit should help you a lot because they have a ~huge~ following in the UK, where grown men playing with toys is still socially acceptable. :)

Add me to the list of people who hasn't put paint to a miniature in over 15 years...until this  :-* review was found. I was doing some research on a different boardgame when i found superfly's site, and then the infamous strange aeons review.

Within 3 weeks I've got the starter minis bundle, and just got my rules bundle in the mail yesterday. Even spent most of this weekend working on a terrain board.

uh...hello everyone!

FYI, SuperFly's excellent review introduced me to the game and helped in my decision to pick it up!

The system is far more versatile than I think people give it credit for. There's nothing to really stop a person from using it to play Weird WW2 stuff, or straight up squad-based military games. Victorian horror wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility either.
