German Super Heavy Tank...WIP.....NEW PICS ADDED
« on: 02 April 2008, 09:44:22 PM »
Just started putting together a Weird War German Super heavy Tank.
The chassis is a 1:35 Panther and the turret is of a GW Baneblade. The guns are from my "Bits Box".
As you can see it will be quite a big beasty!!!

I will post pics as I go.

Regards

I would've rather seen one that was styled after the designs for the german landship.

Only trouble is the time between shots. You fire the guns and then a recovery crew have to go and fetch the turret from that field half a mile behind the tank, and then return and fix it back onto hull. And then you still have to reload it!  :)

Thanks for the comments!

twrchtrwyth: The "Secret" to a good bits box is NEVER throw out un-used bits of kits ( although my missus would argue the point about the cluttered spare room!!)

wolfgangbrooks: I would love to build a landship ( possibly a future project) but space tends to dictate what I make, as well as how it would be used on a 6'X4' table!

Plynkes:
Firing both guns would cause LOT of recoil! I was thinking that if one gun fired a split second after the first, the shell would pass through the mangled armor caused by the first shot, destroying the target.
........The you could go and recover the turret.........

Very nice Papp  8)  8)
Paint it! Paint it!

Incidentally, I'd once tackled a similar project - or rather, I still have to, as only the turret is done. It's in 1:35 scale, and I went for something a little smaller  - a Pz II!

Pappa you gotta put some zimmerite  on that bad boy!  That would really give a cool effect because I could just envision desperate tank hunters trying to close assault that bad boy with sticky and magnetic mines after their bazookas or at guns bounce off it's armor.

What kind of colour scheme are you contemplating??? Russian front or more tradtional panzer colours?I reckon it would look excellent either way.

You could always say they are rigid recoilless guns.  I'm sure that bad boy could take it.  I believe the Germans were developing a recoilless for the Hetzer in the later days of the war so they could mount a larger gun on it's smaller chassis.
