General Samurai Thread
« on: 30 March 2013, 01:58:47 PM »
After prior discussion I have made the thread for general Samurai discussion. I would love to see some painted samurai armies, some AARs and discuss rule sets.

All I have to add:

Sarissa as just shown off a whole new range of Feudal Japanese buildings...just an extra resource for the budding young Samurai.

Some of those look familiar  :)

Just a couple if pictures of things I've done in the past that are samurai related (and are probably on here somewhere).

After .salute I'm going to be looking into gaming mass battles with 15mm and either Black Powder or Hail Ceaser as I really like the system and ethos of the games.

I'm not too bothered about historical accuracy for gaming as long as its something close. Play the game for the games sake  :)

cheers

James

Thanks for the Sarissa link, I'll probably grab some of these when Ronin is released as the club doesn't have any Japanese terrain.

HUBBA HUBBA Jimbibbly!!!  :-* that all looks wonderful, just what I needed to see.

I used to play WAB and the Devine Wind supplement but to be honest I haven't played with them for years  :(

Along with the 15mm mass battles I mentioned before I'm going to look at Sharp Practise for smaller 28mm engagements  :)

cheers

Got plans to do 15mm large battles with the Peter Pig Battles in the Age of War set and skirmishes in 25mm with Song of Blades and Heroes initially and maybe Sharp Practise as the number of figures grows.

"Battle reports" and some painted guys there (bottom of page):

I use Songs of for skirmishes and WAB for bigger battles. I plan to use Clan War too for the honor rules, duels, formations, creatures and magic and because you can mix almost every mini to make your armies.

If anybody know a game allowing complete ninja armies, please let me know. I have like 90 of them and would like to play them and even more.

Renaissance Miniatures who ran a Kickstarter campaign for lasercut painted medieval buildings are about to launch one for east asian village buildings including a great Pagoda, tea house, temple, etc.

This is their medieval campaign:

On it they look great. Now rules I think are a holy grail as I ahvent found one as yet, LOTR conversion is my plan. I have Bushi No Yume which is an SOBH variation but think it may be a little hard for casual gamers as I am collecting all the forces.

Eagerly awaiting Jims figure range and the Northstar ones together with the Osprey rules for a bit of kurosawa action.

My club is holding out for Ronin and the North Star figures (though I want the Perry Ikko Ikki for my warband). I just want this thread to compile inspiration for when i get to the samurai painting.

We use the Peter Pig rules for 15mm battles, they work quite nicely.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)
