This is looking really good so far!

Makes me think of Waterworld. The cobbles together craft & the settlement from early in the movie.

Thanks, people!

Finished and primed the main body, the cabin and the bow section.

I have also started scratchbuilding a small outboard motor of the variety often seen on small Asian river craft.

I'm not entirely sure I like the bow section, but it is still separate and can be replaced with regular planking (or rather sheeting).

I plan to cover the gaps at the waterline of the barrels with all sorts of debris, as has been suggested by Mason. I'm thinking of a mixture of white glue, static grass and a few wooden and plastic bits. I'll probably sculpt a dead fish, too :D Any other suggestions?

Very nice - starting to come together nicely.

I like the bow, but I don't think you need too much debris on the sides, just a little will work.

Skander, I use the flour bomb now for everything. After the white dusting, the model almost paints itself, all you need to do is apply a few washes, pick out some details and highlight. That's it.

Finished the outboard subassembly. Here's a close-up:

I think it might be a tad small for such a rather large vessel. Opinions?

I agree that it is a little big, but hey, what do I know will happen when it all gets post-apoc?

And why on earth did I write "flower"? o_o Maybe an effect of my sheer happiness of this build ;)

This does not look like a speedboat to me, more like some traders junk (a junk-junk to be precise  ;) ) so that motoriszation is quite OK. Maybe it will be transported by linking to a towboat and this motor is only for precise steering when in harbours... Who knows?

How about two, the second one being a different design?
