I think it might be a tad small for such a rather large vessel. Opinions?

I'd say it depends on the currents in the waters it sails. perfect for small lakes or streams, but they wouldn't venture out to sea with it.

Brilliant build! I wouldn't change a thing. Sometimes the post-apoc engine you got is the post-apoc engine you got...

Thanks for the input! Did some more research into boat engines and found a few better designs. I think the mistake was that my original reference was intended for small paddle boats, and I just upscaled it. I guess I'll build a slightly larger one, something like this:

The completed one will be stored somewhere on the raft as backup.

Great build. My Waterworld project lies dormant, I shall live vicariously through you :)

Built a new engine. This one certainly looks like it could propel a heavy-laden vessel 8)

And a comparison shot with the old outboard, already flour-bombed.

Looking beefier. What's the flour bomb method?

Thanks, people!

Zizi, I had hoped that I could get away without those ;) The build is fiddly enough as it is, and I don't want to shed parts all over Silversixx's and Anpu's tables. It's supposed to be a gaming model, after all lol

Anders, no. This is just a quick scratch build. I'd have to do a few things different from the start if I wanted it to be castable. Also, it is not the cleanest work, with gaps and odd angles galore :)

The flour bomb is a term coined by The Crazy Vikinghere for black-and-white priming, and it sort of stuck with me. I learned that technique from Mrs Zafarelli, who paints a lot better than I do. All you do is spray prime your model completely black, and, once dry, follow up with a mist of white from a 45° angle. The white will settle on all raised surfaces, defining the natural shadows. I really like that method of priming, it makes painting soooo easy  :-*

The Flour Bomb.....

A term new to me however I have also used this technique. I will try to remember this.

I was just refering to the engines, but then again they seem to have a lot of angles and cavites too, and would be frail when cast as well.
