I think they changed that. I'm pretty sure the last couple of GW models I have built (Cities of Sigmar and Adepta Sororitas figures) had the parts close together on the sprues. Only the extra options, or parts that are interchangeable (like heads or shields) tend to be placed somewhere else.

Well the most recent kits of theirs I have got to do are a box of arco-flagellants and a box of Delaque gangers, both of which I am dreading working with to be honest, on a brighter note I also have a box of Northstar scavengers to build. Some of these will be for use with John Lambshead's sci-fi skirmish scenarios as well a Space Station Zero etc, etc.

I've got a box of old skeleton horde which I'm saving for a relaxing day with a beer to put together. They will be a  joy to put together with the endless possibilities.

I have just now seen the preorder for the 'War of the Rohirrim' and while the new sets look nice I have been negatively been surprised by how the sprues for the Rohirrim and Dunlending Warriors look like. Thank god I have trained with Victrix sprues lately but God have mercy with the folks expecting finished miniatures which they only need to stick to the base

While it’s a big leap forward for LotR minis, those sprues do look rather daunting! LotR plastics in the starter boxes are almost always simple build, one piece, maybe 2 if there’s a horse.

These are a whole new thing! Not sure whether they’re good or bad, either.

I did have to look closely at the sprue around it, just to check it wasn't actually meant to be two separate parts - I wouldn't put it past them these days

I missed that here. I recall however having seen that at some other promo pictures too. One would think that someone takes a closer look at what they are presenting before they upload it.

No, those are patented two-piece arrows, to help with the crisp detail!

I mean, it's not even just one arrow, every single one is broken, on both archer sprues.

And the Rohirrim seem to have separate faces. I thought the Delaque gangers with separate neck pieces was taking the piss but this is just stupid.

Are GW actively trying to put people off buying these?

The chap puts all the Rohan guys together and a chunk of the baddies. At one point he shows all the parts that make up one Rohan Warrior. Looks like quite a jump for any MESBG players that aren't used to such kits. The fella doing the video seems a struggle a bit to put them together 

Still I do find myself a little tempted but I think that's more about me wishing this was a skirmish version of WFB.

Now I was watching it and catched myself trying to see if he got broken arrows as well or not 

The irritating part was that he says at one point "I haven't been able to finish even one Wilding Warrior to get this video out in time" (not quoted directly) and seconds later he shows a full range of them with the line "With all the Warrios done".

Also not sure why he talks about more terrain for the game. Those Rohan buildings have been released since a while, haven't they?

You could just convert other rules for a skirmish version of WFB. I converted Ravenfeast for my brothers to play LotR since we couldn't bother to buy all of those rulebooks (and need to rebuy them again now when they release a new version) when we restarted into the hobby. I would however also expect that there are some skirmish rules out there by other Warhammer Fantasy fans.

I've got some home brew rules I'm playtesting (see Classic Wargame in sig.) But, theres always something satisfying about a boxed game rather than something cobbled together. I know it's not how it went down, I'd have just loved it if they'd gone this route with WFB rather than blow it up.

While I have no intention of buying from GW these days there's one item that WILL sway me and that is the plastic Arvus Lighter

I just love the idea of a little carrier like this for geenral sci fi and terrain purposes. I bought two of the smaller Lightyear Armadillo shuttles for similar reasons.
