Colonial Africa suggestions
« on: 07 October 2013, 06:56:28 PM »
Hi all,

New to the forum - so waving hello as well as asking for some suggestions.

I have a growing idea of creating a Adventure Company based around Colonial Africa - The Explorer, Prim and Proper Lady with her dart wielding umbrella, and so on and so on....

Problem I got is when ever I look around at models for this they all seem to come in groups 4-6 of each type but I only need 1 (coat North Star, Foundry and Warlord Games)

Anyone got any suggestions of other companies to look at? (based in UK)

Unfortunately most of the companies sell figures as sets, but there are exceptions...

Try Colonel Bills www.colonelbills.com
He sells mainly secondhand figures (many Foundry and Perry) as well as his own ranges and is always open to negotiation as he has many spares.

Ironclad www.ironcladminiatures.co.uk.
Great Steampunk Figures and most are sold individually

Fighting 15s www.fighting15sshop.co.uk
These sell suitable if zany Eureka figures, many of which are sold individually

Of course you could approach the manufacturers direct to see if they would break up packs, but even if they did it would probably cost a lot more in the long run...

Hope that helps

for this kind of band, you need :
1 explorer ( reaper, ironclad ? )
a lady ( same manufacturers ? )
5 heavily armed askaris ( coppelstone, foundry, etc ; 1 blister )
5 poorly armed askaris ( the same ? 1 blister )
2 other characters ( reaper , ironclad ? )

were is the problem ?  ;)

and you can try ebay or LAF ads for individual figs  ;)
Dans les situations critiques, quand on parle avec un calibre bien en pogne, personne ne conteste plus. Y'a des statistiques là-dessus.

Where are you based in the UK?

If you find Dave Thomas at a show he usually has a large tray of mixed loose Foundry figures at £1 each. Bit of a long shot, but worth a rummage although the last tray I saw were mostly SYW types.

Otherwise, put up a definitive wanted list (including guide price) and see if anyone on here can help out.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Think I may have found a solution.

I may buy the blisters, and then make fluff and stats up for each model and then I can swap and choose from all the models!
