Aye :D Will do.

Sounds like a fun way to introduce players - remember to take pics, however miserable they'll turn out!  ;)
I support the demand of photos of said game. Btw, the paladin looks very cool. You've managed to give him an expression of "ugh, I'm too old for this sh*t".

I will try to remember, but wont promise too much. I tend to get caught up in the games :) But I will at the very least get some pictures of the heroes and villains!

Painted up this guy:

He's an orc from CP Models, used to test out some Vallejo matt medum I bought to try out some underpainting, strongly inspired by this tutorial (Link) by Delaney King and also the results achieved by Hobgoblin and "Stuart" (?) from over at The Lost and the Very Damned. (Both of those blogs linked are very good reads, if you havent already. As is Hobgoblins painting log on this very forum. He has a seemingly never ending supply of old miniatures that I am very envious off. Oh, and he also paints rather well.  lol )

As always, thanks for reading!

Too kind! I claim speed as my only virtue when it comes to miniature painting!  :D

The never-ending supply is what you get from a severely misspent youth ...

That's a great paint job on the orc: I love the rusty helmet! Did you use Delaney's approach with the grey undercoat and successive washes and soft drybrushes? The transitions on the belly-plate and hands look really nice.

Those CP Models orcs are lovely - understated and thuggish, with a slight "Scouring of the Shire" vibe.

I basically just over- and drybrushed 4 layers from black through light grey/white, and then did a few line highlights with pure white.
Then the colouring is just the basecolour + matt medium and occasionally a highlight and some shading put in with thin glazes as well.
The picture isn't too good ('cause my phone camera is all I have, and it is completely busted) but I was surprised by how well it worked.

The belly-plate was just a Vallejo blood red equivalent glazed onto the grey, then highlighted by adding a pale ochre - Red wash and a little but of dark blue to shade. I want to get some better pictures documenting the process at some point, as I spent ages figuring it out, even though it turned out to be really simple.

I just handed in my masters degree, meaning that theres two things I immediately did. The first was to sleep like a dead person for a long time. The second was to paint this lil' bugger:

It's a snotling, based up alone so I can have trully tiny little buggers for my warbands.

Again, painted using underpainting and tinting: Had to try out the turqoise ink I bought from p3 while waiting for my vallejo inks to arrive.
Also tried changing up my usual basing routine, though I think I made the mushroom too dark.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

I like this one alot. Have the same mini on my shelf ready to be painted eventually. It seems like your new technique fits green skins a lot.

Glaces and washes tend to work really well with muddy browns and greens, and I've always found it a great deal of fun to paint orc and goblin skin. This guys skin is actually based on yellow. Worked a treat! You should get yours painted - Its a really neat miniature. I love his little, shifty, grin.  :D

Fabulous work in this thread. I know what you mean about sticking to similar colour schemes I do that quite often. You can see periods on my blog where everything is very similar in tone lol

Bravo !
So, a snotling this time, uh? And an orc before? Could be this the start of a new warband? (I hope so  :D)

I'll have to make that a mysterious yes and no...  ;) I have more snotlings/teeny-tiny goblins left to paint, at the very least.

Its a complicated field, since my favourite colourschemes I tend to keep replicating because they are, well, my favourites. And I am happ ywith the results I get painting in that fashion. But its nice to strike out occasionally. The Orc further up i sactually my first attempt at NMM in quite a while, for example. c:

The Orc & especially the Goblin are BEAUTIFULLY psinted & based creation. The Goblin's WONDERFUL nose gives him preference with moi. Both VERY WELL DONE!

Thanks. Goblins ought to be rednosed, I reckon - Either drunk or because they've had a big slap across for mischievery  :D

I've done some more painting:

The miniature is a bit of a proof of concept: Since actual 80'ies citadel marauders/thugs are sorta expensive on the ebay, I've been harbouring thoughts of converting the superficially similar gladiators of either Foundry or Crusader Miniatures. The above is the first finished result of that. He's from this pack.
I think it turned out pretty well! I have a few more on the workbench that I'll hopefully be painting over the following days.

He's also the result of me finally getting my hands on a set of Vallejo Game Colour Ink Washes, and using a heavy tinting/under-painting technique, that I am quite in love with at the moment.

There's a bit more talk and pictures over on my blog, Fantastical Figurines.

Thanks for reading and commenting y'all!

Looks great! Using gladiators as chaos warriors is a very nice idea.

Thanks :)

I feel like there's a lot of design-ques in the actual chaos thug models from gladiators. Besides, the over-the-top costumes and equipment also seems suitable.
