Snagrod's mannaged to rally a couple of Orcs more. And he's even convinced a mighty (if dumb) ogre to tag along:

They had their first real battle yesterday (which I forgot to take pictures off). Suffice to say, Snagrod proved his 'kunnin', lurked in the shadows, and dispatched fallen foes from behind a meatwall of orc fighters.

I also build and painted this Hovel, which featured prominently in the game, as all 3 sides tried to loot it:

Here's a size comparison with a 28mm Mantic skelly:

I'll have to build 2 or 3 more, so we can battle it out over an isolated village at some point!

Thanks for reading

FANTASTIC WORK! The minis painted up in OUTSTANDING fashion...the background fluff enhances the pieces immeasurably. AND The Hovel is a GREAT little terrain piece; I can imagine a whole village of them...that would be a sight to behold.

I find that making up the stories and names of miniatures I paint makes the painting and gaming just that much more enjoyable too.
As for the village; Ill get right on it  :D

Amen to that. I've never been as productive since I started painting up my miniatures for the D&D campaign we're running at the moment. I find it hugely enjoyable.

Also, brilliant job in those orcs and the hovel ;) ;) ;)

At the very least, I'll bring them along to the next Horisont :P

They are from Ral Parthas Blighttown range (Which is a range of skirmish packs, picked from their 15mm Demonworld range). Some brilliant miniatures in there, really.

I've been painting a bit more of the orcs.
Having survived christmas and finished the warbands for my roommates, I figured that I'd need a gang of my own to play against theirs, after all. And so, Throm was subjected to a lick of pain. Orcs need a leader after all, and Snagrod ended up dead in the last game we played. He was a wee' puny one anyways. Smarts are for humies and other soft ones.

(The picture is both blurry and bad since the light in Denmark is atrocious for photography at this time of the year. If you squint your eyes you can sort of see a miniature in there)

I've painted a couple more orcs for the warband, seeing as it is steadily growing in our campaign.
Here's a groupshot of the lot:

Throm leads the Wildfang orcs in their campaign to plunder the human kingdoms.

Now I only wish I had a better camera than that on my phone  ::) Still, this'll have to do.

I also painted a couple of Elves, which might be used as mercenaries, or for a scenario at some point.

A elven Blademaster fights off an orc ambush

I am a little bit miffed with how the mage (in the back) turned out. I tried painting him with a new technique (preshading and glazes), but it ended up looking very messy. He could do with a little bit of touching up.

Anyways, that's all for now!
Hope you enjoy the pictures, and thanks for reading!

I'm very impressed with how detailed you manage to paint those 15 mm miniatures. Throm has a lot of character.

Thanks for the nice comments y'all :)

I have a small update today. Just finished painting this:

I got the skull-thingy together with some used miniatures some time ago (I think it was from a LAF'er, even) and have been looking for a way to use it. Well, it turned into this: Possibly the most 90'ies thing I have ever painted.
I do digg it a lot! It'll serve as a forgotten shrine dedicated to malevolent gods, or a similar place of evil magic. Might make for a good "King of the Hill" type game.

Cheers!

Re: Affun's lead-pile - 29/1-15: Sir Aldous the Younger
« Reply #117 on: January 29, 2015, 01:00:42 PM »
I painted up a man-at-arms for my 25-28mm warbands, as I will be playing the play-test version of Ganesha Games Fightin' Fungi game next tuesday.

So without further ado:

Sir Aldous the Younger is a hotblooded young nobleman, eager to prove his worth and earn his fortune in glorious battle. He's a bit of a show-off, being able to afford much better equipment than the average adventurer. On the battlefield, Aldous complements his fancy equipment with superior swordsmanship, having taken lessons since a young age. His favoured weapon is a brutal bastardsword which he hus dubbed Grethel, for undisclosed reasons.

Another one of the great Fantasy Warriors Sculpts. The Sallet helmet is an absolute favourite of mine, as is the somewhat simple but powerful style of the sculpt on this mini. Not too many superflous details, but a strong and well-defined sculpt. Great fun to paint, and quick too.
I am trying out 2mm thick MDF bases instead of washers, as I got tired of the washers chipping: The shine of the metal is very visible.
I really like the added height of the base, though it still retains the sublety that I like about the washers. This might be my version of the "perfect" base. Small enough to be unobtrusive, but distinct enough to be aesthetically pleasing, and frame the miniature.

Anyways, that was a ramble and a half.

COOL STUFF! I neglected commenting on the Skull Thingy. It really is quite an evil bit of scenery; just the thing to act as a centerpiece for some macabre scenario. AND the new Metal Encased Lad is TERRIFIC...the Knight in shining armor look turned out SPLENDIDLY. VERY WELL DONE!

Much obliged. glad you enjoy it  :D

What, 2 updates in a day? You bet! Gotta get these adventurers ready for next tuesday. And when thats done, I also need to paint a couple adversaries more for them. Phew!

He goes by the name Sly Seagal. Not quite as fancy or wealthy as Sir Aldous, Seagal prefers stabbing shortswords into peoples backs to the pompous swordplay of the nobles. Thus, the two make a good team. While Sir Aldous distracts and dazzles the enemies, deflecting their puny attacks with both his fencing and his heavy armour, Seagal skirts around the edges of the melee, quickly exploiting any and all weakness.

This time, a lovely chap from Midlam Miniatures. I am a huge fan of their ranges, and have ordered from them a couple of times, though never actually gotten any of the miniatures painted (except a single one) for some reason. Well, time to change that! These guys are perfect for minor characters in skirmish-games, adding a bit more character to the rank and file.

As for the adventurers and the game; I've started to make a statcard for each miniature I paint, since most of my opponents borrow my miniatures anyways. It makes for both a pretty and fast way of refering stats and abilities during the game.
Besides, I am a sucker for that kind of paraphernelia. :)

Here's the ones I've made for Sir Aldous and Sly Seagal, if you'll excuse the somewhat poor  photographs (couldn't be bothered to get my scanner out):

Cheers! And thanks for reading.
