Reaper "Bones" Cthulhu FINISHED 11/8
« on: July 26, 2014, 04:43:16 PM »
Received a Reaper "Bones" Cthulhu miniature from my friend Thomas earlier this week, and assembled and began painting it today. This will be a slow burner project for the upcoming week and I hope that by painting a couple of hours every night I may end up having a finished paintjob. The model itself is pretty awesome, even though it is a bit daunting to paint such a large mini by hand without an airbrush - but I have painted large models before so it should not pose any problem.

Check my blog for more pictures of this mini: http://anatolisgameroom.blogspot.se/2014/07/reaper-bones-cthulhu-miniature-wip-1.html

Nice. An airbrush would be very handy to paint that beastie.

Well your figure inspired the following little musings  lol

Come forth ancient one,
Cthulhu rise up oh cursed, wrathful and malevolent one
My enemies are yours...
Twist their minds with your spells
Crush their souls with your infernal grasp
So that I may in madness eternally dwell.

See Little Cthulhu:

Cthulhu finished, didn't matt varnish as I decided I liked the slimy/wet surface look on his skin, seems fitting for a sea dwelling creature.

Brilliant. What was the plastic like to work with on a figure this size?

@Dozing Dragon,

The material resembled rubber as much as it did plastic. Never painted anything made from such a material before, but it painted up well and paint stuck to the surface without any problem. The only thing was that the mini was huge and cumbersome, and a bit heavy to handle during some of the painting steps  :)

Beautiful. Love the dark, ageless tones. Gives him real visual weight. Light colors on him just don't do it for me...

Did you heat and repose him at all? Sorry if this was already asked earlier.

No, just glued him together and greenstuffed the joints so the pose is "vanilla"  :)
