Reaper Bones Cthulhu Conversion - FINISHED
« on: November 13, 2014, 04:36:30 PM »
i thought this post of mine could interest the ones of you that do not visit the Strange Aeons forum :)

sadly i discovered that the head is so soft i cant paint it with army painter quickshader ( because it wont harden and will stay sticky ! i tested it on a tentacle) ….thus the mini wont look similar to the rest of my deep ones !

i really did not like the flimsy original wings that come with the model so i went to a Yardsale yesterday and bought some shitty toy dragon who i relieved of its wings

also i addet a few more eyes , fixed the gap between the body and the tail , and addet and will add a few more tentacles to the sides

i really dont get why i have not seen any conversions of this mini before, the material is great to work with

in the end i think it will make a great Godling for any strage aeons game to come !

Dang -- sorry to hear about the Quickshade.

No luck painting the head in a basecoat then applying the quickshade?

im running a test right now...maybe it will work...time will tell...it definetly takes longer to "dry"

UPDATE YÜAH !!

i decited to use Quickshader on this mini…even though there is a risk that it will react with the head….but i tested it again after priming the head with varnish and it seemed to work…so i guess it will dry and not stay sticky…..

Theres still a lot to do still….i have to paint the base…and use varnish to make some parts less shiny…..i think i will spraypaint the varnish on it but will tape up the parts that should stay shiny beforehand…..

so i finally finished painting it....

more pictures HERE  http://kleinerzorn.wordpress.com/2014/12/15/reaper-bones-cthulhu-finished/

i bought a new can of Quickshader...and it didnt stay sticky..... maybe the stuff i used was too old...
also i applyed a coat of varnish before applying the shader so the surface may have been sealed...and thus didnt stay sticky like in the test i did !
