Viking Expedition to Natal
« on: 30 July 2014, 08:40:29 AM »
I am going to paint Zulu, Mexicans and Texians in 2014.

Any Zulu army worth its salt would have a lot of figures. I don't like painting loads of similar figures.
So in order to have just a reasonable chance of completing some Zulu I have chosen to use the method described below.

Here is the first test Zulu:

I simply painted the entire figure with a gloss brown spray, blocked in the details and washed it with a black wash (Army Painter).

I then painted up the colours again.

I think the result is good. In fact better than hoped for. And within the realm of realism with regards to completing 64 of the blighters.

Great end result!

The sprayed "before" dude looks horrible though, so great thing that it works out in the end.

Yeah, well, thanks! Hardly a new approach, but I just found the results were good.  :D

Thanks and so do I!

Well, I suppose I mean 'highlighted all colours with the colours I used for blocking out before washing'. The skin colour was highlighted with Bloodtracker Brown (which seemed suitable).

I varnished it all with dull cote.

Seconded. :)

Awesome sauce :D

Cheerio!!

Great end result!

The sprayed "before" dude looks horrible though, so great thing that it works out in the end.

Yeah I was a bit afraid after looking at the sprayed ones iniatially.  lol

Seconded  :D
