A shame, but understandable. I will say though, you normally mix up unit types and paint them as you go (at least from other of your projects that I've observed), and I suspect that trying to make a full platoon with support all in one go assembly-line style probably hasn't helped you (especially with the level of work required in sculpting terms).

I hope that you do return to it sooner rather than later, but maybe next time section off a smaller part of the platoon to complete as discrete project? Either way, I'll pass comment, add encouragement, and enjoy your project vicariously when you do. Oh, and thanks for sharing this one so far, it was a real treat!  8)

So I saw some female head sprues over at Statuesque miniatures ( http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/ ) and thought that they would look good on a few Squats... so I bought some and fitted one on a Squat body. Initially they were slightly small but I padded out the cheeks and this is what I came up with:

I will be putting together a unit of these and will use them as veterans. Most will have berets :) . I just need to decide on what special/heavy weapons to give them now.

This is the first painted 'official' member of the army to be painted :).

Cheers :)

I have another five (with berets) on the table at the moment. The trouble is, I tried using the plastic arms for them and they just looked so bad that I am going back to the arm sculpting process I have used for the other Squats... so they may take a little while to finish.

The plastic arms are really rubbish when used for two handed weapons :(

The five ladies have wire arms at the moment and will be getting some Green stuff added later :) . I'll get them converted and painted before I move on to the remaining 4 (3 special weapons and 1 comms).

They work well.
First time that I have seen alternate heads worked so that they look right for female Squats.

Not something I am proud of (using ACTUAL Lego for conversions...) but I have been mulling something over and it just wouldn't go away :) :

I wondered when I'd find a thread about Squats. Man, you've done them justice here. Reading and viewing them makes me want to break out my old Squats. Thanks for sharing.

You are not the first person to ask that...

... but no. No land-train, I am afraid :( .

These are going to be Chimera 'counts-as' vehicles because my Squat army is based around the Astra Militarum codex.

That said...

... I am tempted to put together a super-heavy vehicle at some point... although it won't be a land-train :)

Well... the design is starting to take shape (unfortunately, I have no drwaings so I can't show you what they are going to look like). I have been slaving over these APCs for most of the weekend and have got this far now:

There are more pix and some additional information over at my Blog:
