The blue foam thatch is a jolly cleaver idea. Reminds me a bit of the old Dapol/ Airfix thatched house.

A thatch roof on a smithy would be a disaster waiting to happen... ;)

But it still looks fabulous

Not as unusual as you may think:

The forge in Cockington Devon, dates back to the C14th.

Branscombe forge in Dorset.

Smithy; strong walls, easily replaceable roof.

Got some more done on the smithy and started some harbour and river boards  ::)

Nick is a very unforgiving task master...

These will be for Salute next year but they'll be done well before that (he says...).

Looking good mate. Very realistic layout....but if thats a giant footprint, where's the giant baby!?!?

Btw how does it tie in with the rest of the board? Are you going to have cliffs behind the houses the same height as your existing cliffs?

It's Nick's footprint, he decided to dance up and down on the table because it was going so well  lol

The strip of foam at the back is the same height as the cliffs and the harbour has been designed so that it can be placed on either side for maximum modularity  :)

cheers

Now that is really gonna look good.
I like the sweep of the banks, very nice.
 :-* :-*

I always suspected that he was really a hobbit and the fact that his feet are quite obviously short and stubby seem to confirm that.
Bet they are really hairy too.

Nick is a very unforgiving task master...

The same has been said of many short people throughout history..  ;)

These will be for Salute next year but they'll be done well before that (he says...).

Jesus, do you actually sleep James?  :o  lol

The smithy looks brilliant, and the new set up for the dock boards really reminds me of those small fishing communities down in Cornwall I used to visit as a kid. Great work.  :D

I meant to ask, you have a cut-away of what looks like the harbour wall, are you going to try some stormy waves crashing over it?

If you do, I'd recommend the railway modellers technique of using clear and white silicon and a tooth pick. They use it for waterfalls mostly, but I reckon a man of your talents could adapt it for this. Maybe run some parallel lines along a length if plastic card the rough it up with the tooth pick( you can add small bit of white silicon in at this stage to act as the foam) Let dry and then peel it off. You can then glue it in place with more silicon and also use gloss varnish on the calmer water.
