Yes...it's definitely him, judging by the Ipswich address and the overall 'really Gripping Beast' vibe...to the painting as well as the sculpting.

Really lovely models...

Those are really lovely.
I particularly like the Saxons in the Coppergate helmets - gorgeous  :-*

The only problem is that for my Early Saxons, I could only really use 3 or 4 of the Saxon figures - since they seem to be drawn from the entire Saxon period, 400AD - 1066!
And as they are currently packaged, you have to buy the whole lot - £25 for 15 figures, most of which I won't be able to use because they represent figures from much later periods...

Hmmm... Strange way to package up the figures...  :(

If he ever releases them in smaller packs, I'll definitely be getting a few though.

There does seem to be an unfortunate drift in the miniatures business towards 'boxed sets' with higher price tags (see North Star). Can understand it from the manufacturer's point of view. Unfortunately, it's not exactly customer-centric...  :?

Consider this a Ditto of Captain Blood - some lovely early saxons, but as they are currently bundled with lots of stuff I won't be able to use I'll not be buying for the time being!

When I first started historical wargaming, I ordered Gripping Beast's Late Romans – and almost immediately sold them again. They just didn't appeal. Now that I've grown (much) older and (not so much) wiser I'm hunting around for those 'toned down' poses by Colin Patten. Good to see him going forward with a new business.

From the announcement I take it that these are just the first two packs which set the scene for later, actual releases. Perhaps these figs were already at hand, but I wouldn't imagine they're sticking to that mode of random packaging.

Since I have an interest in the entire period I'll buy them, but I agree that the packaging is somewhat strange.
Price seems to be more than OK for me.
Looks as if most have separate shields?

I love anything Colin has ever sculpted and it's indeed good to see him back at his workbench.

Of course I'm now living in fear that Colin might one day re- do his 'Arthurians' as well.

The packaging did strike me as odd as well.  But I really do like he minis. I cant imagine getting into a crusade period more than using my DA Normans, but I would like a couple of Arthurian armies and since I have DA Vikings and Saxons, this may not be so bad for me.  I really like the sculpts and poses, really nice stuff!
