The wife is giving me grief about nearly 2 years of painting and not gaming but I'm now at that point.

Thank you guys I have enjoyed this little project all in all.

The Moss colour has been a real challenge to do but overall I'm reasonably happy.

Next up will be the 10 Czechs I have in the pipeline and then the cavalry which I think will cause me some grief with the uniforms but we will see 

The scenery project took another small step forward last night although the gate house collapsed while drying out    so a structural rethink required.

The formings of a T&T campaign are gathering in my mind. C'mon Dodge it must be soon now

I know the feeling! I think it's because its like painting 2 minis - and then still having another  (the rider) to do before finishing the model.....

It doesn't help that these particular cavalry don't seem to want to sit on their horses properly (their fat backsides won't fit in amongst all the tranklements plonked on their horses' backs), which adds to the hassle factor and makes more work.

Consequently I still haven't touched them, and have been painting some pointy-headed 1914 Boches instead.

Well I've been making these buildings using blue foamcore 5mm thick and they are basically boxes with no top or bottom. Its worked on th esingle storey and the two story but this one went a bit rhomboid and fell flat even though I propped it it up. I used pva glue which has worked before.

so i think i need a base and some strengthening inside the corners but I'm not sure how to go about it.

what do you think?

All the others worked on this basis but this one was a little bigger so maybe thats it.

Cut a triangle from an offcut and glue it into each corner to brace the model.

If you are basing the model then you will only need a brace possibly at the top as glueing to down onto a board will help, but it depends where you think it needs strengthening.
 I pin my foamcore buildings together using ordinary dress makers pins. One at top. one in the middle and one at the bottom. They help to keep the model very rigid. I only brace the inside if its a two storey building.
Sometimes if its very long I might brace across the long walls with an extra piece of off cut.

Most of my buildings have lift off roofs, which can weaken them compared to a glued on roof.
I use foamcore off cuts to brace the card roof.


Internally I tend to use triangular section balsa in each corner.  It looks a bit tidier when the roof is off but does add strength.
This building only has mounting board walls and is fine.
It also means that for 2 storey buildings if I brace to the top of the ground floor, I can rest the removeable upper floor on the balsa braces.

used some thicker wedges on the insides. Halfway between both pieces of advice.

Result - nice firm structure which did not collapse while the pva took an age to dry.
