Thank you darthgus, rumacara and kidterminal. I'm always elated to see such nice comments.

So, a question. How much bigger is the Imperial Assault Stormtrooper on the left vs. the Action Fleet one on the right?

I'm trying to figure out how much larger I need to make another Action Fleet toy, if I decide to sculpt it to the right size. This one...

I'm not saying this is my next project, but it's a front runner right now. Let me know what you think.

They are perfectly in scale with the WEG stormtroopers and look pretty good after a removal of mold lines and a repaint:

Looks like its head and shoulders bigger... so about 20% larger should work. Perhaps find some dinosaur models to use as a base.

Thanks everyone for the advice. In the long run I think I'll stick with the Action Fleet Dewbacks sized as they are. I'll be re-painting them though. In fact I have one downstairs that just got a good scrubbing with paint stripper. I'll prime it up and see what I can do with it.

Update time. Over the weekend I made some more terrain. I built Three Sliding Doors.

The doors are made of sheet plasticard that I cut up into layers and glued together. This is a heavily modified version of a DM's Craft project I found on YouTube. You can see from the middle one the door slides out of the top (the door is laying in front) making it easy to show if the door is open or not. I know this is a Star Wars thread but I wanted something I could use for Space Hulk too. The doors are 50mm wide (2 inches). I have another couple in process, and I plan to make at least six more. I'm also planning to make a 75mm (3 inches) or 100mm (4 inches) across door that separates in the middle. Who wouldn't want a functioning blast door?

I also painted up a droid. This is Captain Rex, the pilot from the Star Tours shuttle I painted earlier in the thread.

Sorry I didn't get Sculpey the Hutt painted yet. I'm lucky I didn't rush to prime him though. The rattle can of Testors Light Earth that I was planning to use was bad. It dripped paint all over the place. Made a mess of some other figures, but the sculpt is safe. Anyway, more to come.

When u said Captain Rex I was hoping for ARC troopers lol. Re sculpty: just get him cast in resin first in silicon. If u need people to cast it USA let me know and I'll give u some details.

Nice doors btw.

Thank You Commander Vyper. I'm talking with a buddy right now about doing a casting of the Hutt. I'll probably have to break the cigar arm off, but that's no real problem. Mike thinks even that might not be nessessary. We'll see.

Update time. This is just a W.I.P. shot of an experiment. This figure still needs more details (and hands) but here it is so far.

From watching Tom Mason's YouTube videos I got the idea of doing a sculpt using Green Stuff wrapped around a wire armature, with layers of Super Sculpey over the top. The polymer clay is applied before the Green Stuff has a chance to cure. This way the clay has something to hold it on the wire armature. Tom Mason used Fimo for this, but I wondered if I could use Super Sculpey instead. Turns out it works just fine. This is supposed to be a Givin, an obscure alien race from Star Wars that I'm pretty sure Fantasy Flight won't be making any of anytime soon. I'll be adding a vest of jacket, as well as hands and probably a blaster. What Star Wars character goes around without a blaster? Or maybe I'll have him holding a hydro-spanner. My games need more unarmed people in them.

Thank you jimbibbly .

Quick update. The Givin sculpt is done. There's another sculpt I started as well.

The one on the left still needs a weapon in his raised hand, and two additions to his head. I'll let this one be a surprise. I'm calling the Givin done because I don't feel like working on it any more. It's not a great sculpt, but I learned a number of things while making it, so that much counts as a success. I should have it primed and maybe painted over the weekend.

Thank you rumacara, orc and kidterminal. I haven't had the chance to do any more sculpting lately, because I really needed to get some painting done. Which leads to...

Update time. I only have two miniatures painted to show this week. There are a few more figures in the pipeline, but I really wanted to get these out there. Here are the Given sculpt and a power droid.

Both of these were simple paint jobs. The power droid is a repaint of the WOTC bendy plastic figure. Let me know what you think.

The face of the Givin is a little crude but the jacket came out really good. On the whole I like him and I'm certain your sculpting skills will improve. The metal texture on the droid is well done.

I have to agree with you both. The face isn't great, but to be honest I wasn't completely satisfied with the rest of the figure either. The hands are way too big, and the jacket is kinda puffy. He'll make a fine addition to the background of a scene, and that's all I was hoping for at the moment. Lots to learn about making faces in that size. Hutts and monsters are far more forgiving then your normal 35mm figure. I should get back to sculpting next week.
