Wow that is a nice repurposing of the WotC Star Wars figures. Brilliant.

I suppose they're hard to come by now..

Thank you War in 15mm and Ultravilliasmurf.
Dr. The Viking, many of the WOTC Star Wars figures are still easy to find on E-Bay. And if you're looking for the basic rank and file they're quite affordable. (Unless you're talking about the metal ones. Those are impossible to find cheap.)

More terrain. This time it's all re-purposed 40K stuff. I'll start with the Munitorum Armoured Containers.

I shaved off all the skulls from the sides of the containers. The gothic architecture is still a dead give-away, as are the servo-skull door controls. I left the corner hawk-head hooks off them too. Means they won't stack well, but they also won't snag on gamer's sleeves while they move miniatures around. Otherwise they look pretty good. Setting this shot up gave me a couple ideas for scenarios. Looks like I'm gonna need a bunch more so I can have a proper maze.

Here are some old scatter terrain pieces. Most of these are out of the 3rd edition 40K box. I've used the barricades and tank traps many times in the past. I could never decide how to paint them, so I just used them primed black. I'm really happy with how the rust effect turned out. Now I have to avoid overusing this technique. A little rust goes a long way, even in the Grim Dark. But especially in a galaxy far, far away.

Most of the barrels are the old 40K ones. The rest are Tamiya 1/32 scale WWII models. I'm not saying they're perfect, but you have to look hard to see the difference. At table distance the differences willbe completely lost. There are 15 barrels in this shot. You'd think that would be enough, but now I want some more. It never ends.

I probably should have posted these in my 40K thread, but chances are I will use these for Star Wars games a lot more then I ever will for 40K. (Then again, there is Shadow War: Armageddon. The distractions are strong with this one.) Let me know what you think.

After spending lots of time on 40K stuff I'm finally back to a proper Star Wars project. I'll start with this TIE Fighter toy I repainted recently.

Here it is side-by-side with the original Action Fleet toy.

The scale isn't perfect. And it retains many of the toy aspects. That said, it look right next to the miniatures. I had a couple 1/48th scale TIE Fighter models. Those might be the right scale, but they're way too big for the gaming table. After seeing all the landed TIE Fighters in Star Wars Rebels I had to get these painted. There's a bunch more of these Action Fleet toys that have been waiting to be painted.

I also started making some terrain. Out of the clear blue I got the idea for a vendor stall. When I started looking for images I stumbled on production art from Rebels with this cool vendor stall design. This is a W.I.P. shot of where I'm at right now.

The silver bits are parts from the Pegasus Chemical Plant. Supposed to be a slop sink and a water pipe that this vendor is tapping into. Illegally, of course.

The wooden poles are BBQ skewers I cut down to size. I didn't have anything to attach wood to the plastic, so I cut plastic tube down and fitted it over the poles. The plastic tubes were glued to the plasticard building. The roof and shelves are still separate pieces till I get this thing painted. I plan to fill the shelves with jars (beads) and model parts after they're painted.

I'm hoping to get a few more vendors built, but this one will probably be the largest of the bunch.

The stall looks great, and let me add that I copied your color scheme when I did my Pegasus Power Plant... thank you.  Richard

Thank you Richard. When I saw your Power Plant I thought it looked familiar. I figured it was just a coincidence.

Great stuff! We've got a couple of those action fleet Ties. It's nice to see they fit so well with 28mm figs!

What a great project. I especially like the rust effect you got on those barricades...

Tried it for a few hours today...thank you very much....;)

Cheers,

Thank you Mason. I was gonna prime the stall over the weekend, but it's too darn hot outside for spray paint. This gives me time to tinker with it some. Maybe finish the shelves first.

Jimbibbley, it's always a pleasure.

Ooh Andym, I'd love to see what you do with your TIEs. My plans are to build airfield stairs for them. After seeing TIE Fighters parked on their solar panels in Rebels, I'm so relieved I don't have to make gantries and hangers.

You're welcome DonVoss. Look forward to seeing your rusty stuff!

I was just testing a new backdrop and found these rebel minis I hadn't taken shots of yet.

I think these were old Eureka miniatures. These were too big next to the WEG stuff. Next to the Imperial Assault miniatures they look just right. As an added bonus, I get more then one pose for Rebel troopers. What a concept! (ratsa-fratsa grumble-grumble-grumble)

Funny you talk about scale but they look good to me. Not that a Tie looks spacious and comfy.
