There is a lot of places in the States where you can buy it,  just check the Ebay search with "acrylic rods" or "acrylic tubes"
For example you can check here: http://stores.ebay.com/AltaRail/_i.html?_nkw=acrylic+rod&submit=Search&_sid=1104297927

Also you can check things like cocktail sticks or knitting tools:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/38cm-transparent-acrylic-rolling-stirring-rod-cocktail-picks-20pcs-lot-free-shipping/1351993917.html?spm=2114.32010308.4.80.BvQXUQ

Considering second question i can say that you can easily cut these rods with modelling knife without losing clear effect.

Thanks for the ideas guys. While I might not want to use the acrylic rods right now I could change my mind down the line. At the moment I don't have any more Jedi to paint. Well, except that now I need to get those two from Hasslefree. I know about the Libby one, but what is the guy called. I also have to find the kids.

Last night Mike (MPennock) and I played the intro game of Imperial Assault. Here's the set-up

And here's Diala Passil confronting the entire Imperial opposition. She got really lucky and dodged twice in this game.

Here the Imperial Officer has run around the Jedi to back shoot her. The smuggler made it around that wall and shot the officer in the back before he could take a second shot, which would have taken Diala out.

Not a bad little game, but I just couldn't warm up to all the cards and counters and special rules. I'm sure if I played a bunch of games I'd get into it, but as an old man I only get to play occasionally, so I like my rule sets simple and elegant.

The only new Imperial Assault figure I've painted recently is the Smuggler Jyn Odan.

I like the design of the character, but that pose is just silly. I might find another female smuggle to replace this one. Maybe a re-paint of the old WOTC metal one I showed here earlier. I have an extra.

Someone on another forum asked how the Dreamforge Stormtroopers would look as Imperial Stormtroopers. I had one assembled but unpainted, so I gave it a try. Here it is...

It sorta works but I hate the super long gun. I'll try to equip another trooper with one of the carbines. A carbine just looks better to me for science fiction.

And lastly I have a few more WEG minis. These are some vehicles I painted long ago. First up, Snowspeeders.

These were a monumental pain to clean, but they paint up nice and I really like the size of them with the WEG stuff. The second picture of the speeders with the tops off is to show that I really did paint the pilots. If you're going to paint rebel pilots you really need to show them off, because orange...

Finally, here are all the Speeder Bikes I have painted.

Why oh why did they sculpt the rebel on the speeder bike in the navy costume. Why not the Endor Commando outfit. Seems that would have made sense.

Let me know what you think.

More good stuff.

And don't forget the Jedi panda.
Back from the dead, almost.

Who made those speeders? They look great are they the WOTC ones?

Thanks Steve F. I had forgot about the panda. I need an alien Jedi that looks like a panda.

Kidterminal, those are West End Games Speeder Bikes. The bike, the rider, the handles and the base are all separate pieces which have to be glued together. Fortunately the results look great. Unfortunately the scale won't match anything except the 25mm stuff.

Nice stuff.

I like the Revell snap tite Snowspeeders.  They are close to 72nd scale but think would look good with 25 or 28mm stuff.
Prepainted but I did give the crew a wash.  Really need to go back and detail paint the thing but it was a quick build just to get my mojo working.

I ordered one of those snap-tite kits at my local game store but it hasn't arrived yet. It might never arrive, which is OK with me because I've since ordered one of the BanDai 1/48th Snowspeeders. From everything I've seen this is gonna be a nice model to go with the Imperial Assault stuff. I also ordered a 1/48th scale AT-ST to go along with it. I'm looking forward to seeing how the BanDai kit compares with the Imperial Assault miniature.

Oh, and I lost big geeks points recently when Mike pointed out that the chin guns on my AT-ST were mounted upside down. I hang my head in shame.

The Bandai kits are really nicely detailed (AT-ST even comes with Chewbacca) but not my scale.  Wish they would also do these 2 in 1/72nd.

I've got all the Bandai kits (literally bought them all the other day and will get some more very soon  :D) and although I haven't put them together yet a quick look at the sprues tells me that they are top quality kits  8)

I like what you've done so far and the long gun on the Dreamforge trooper will do fine for a blaster rifle  :)

cheers

James

philp, take a look at the Star Wars Action Fleet AT-STs. Those seemed just about perfect for the 25mm stuff. I think you can still find them on E-Bay at decent prices too.

Thanks,
I picked up a resin kit that is supposed to be 72nd scale but think the head is a bit thin.  Still, never built a resin kit before so will try a couple of the others I have first.

I have both Bandai kits mentioned the AT-ST is fantastic and fully poseable Chewbacca will stick out of the top hatch if you want to do a rebel captured one. My small collection is of the WOTC 32mm figures and soon Imperial Assault so their size will be perfect.

Wonderful stuff as always. I think they went for the Rebel in standard Navy Kit on the speeder to make him stand out more and be more universal.. plus the Endor Commandos look pants hehe
