Very cool. That one's on my "must get but will never get around to" list. Love the colour choices.

Even if painting him was a pain in the a.. as you said, the disc rider came out great! Lovely and weird model!

Older models can be a pain in the apiary, but you did a great job on it!

It's a rare thing that I paint up an Oldhammer model and don't enjoy it. But this beaky guy was a royal PITA. Slightly miscast, and with what I suspect may be a tiny bit of lead rot that I noticed after stripping the old paint, he was a real chore. Even the flying stand snapped while I was varnishing, meaning I had to do more touch-ups after the repair. Truly, a cursed model! But never mind - I now have the two Chaos Sorcerers I need, one on foot and one on disc, so I can get back to my beloved undead!

This is gorgeous, lovely use of colour. Really dig your painting style

When the thread is so old that LAF gives you a warning about threadomancy. Again.  lol

BUT: I've only gone and started painting more Warhammer Quest minis. Even had a game. An actual game! And for that game, I discovered that I'd completely forgotten to paint any Ghouls, so that's what I did first.

I purchased a bunch of the newer plastic GW ghouls a few years ago, but when I came to paint them I just didn't like them as much as the old metal ones. So I found 12 in the attic that were part of my old Vampire Counts army, stripped them, and repainted them. (And now that I've taken photos, I realise they need touch-ups. Dammit!)

Six down, six more to go.

They do look very good though. In terms of threadomancy, it means I got to see that cracking Tzeentch champion again, great colours on that!

Cheers! He still gives me flashbacks. And I've just finished another really old model that was also a pain to paint. Sometimes this project throws curveballs, but it's a labour of love!

The varnish has just dried on the next model.

As I was saying in a previous post, this one was also a PITA to paint - I've always wanted to paint the classic Teclis model, but never felt like my skills were quite up to the task. Tbh, I still don't, because the finicky details + amount of freehand required are seriously 'extra'. But I gave it my best shot, and finally finished him.

In terms of Warhammer Quest, I figured it was a bit unfair that the Wizard should always be human, and because I painted so many elves already (by accident - I don't even like elves!), I wanted a Wizard for an all-elf adventuring party. There isn't really a more impressive/OTT wizard model from the golden era of Warhammer, so Teclis was the natural choice.

I'm going to try a dungeon with four elf characters: "Elf" (the OG, with the most original name ever), Elf Ranger, Wardancer, and Wizard. Wish me luck!

For someone who doesn’t like elves, you did a great job on that one! I especially like the painted on details, such as the stars on the cloak. Beautiful work.

As for the ghouls, I was going to use Paul Muller's originally, mixed with a few old metal GW; but while I was up in the loft I found 3 boxes of unassembled GW plastics that I hoarded and totally forgot about, so it looks like I'll be using those! lol

Quoting myself here, because apparently earlier in this thread I made the decision to ditch the metal ghouls in favour of plastics back in 2015! Fast forward 9 years, I finally got round to them, and clearly changed my mind  lol lol

Many thanks!

I find elves - especially high elves - to be the most annoying and effete of all the fantasy races. So it's galling that they have some of the most beautiful miniatures that I just find myself drawn to  lol I still have the "Lord of Aenarion" warrior to paint, although I'm yet to source the ideal miniature for it. (It's one of the later "specialist games" rules packs with no official model).

Ruh-roh... I've got quite a few minis lined up on my painting table right now, but I just found a big bag of Chaos Dwarfs, and the urge to paint them is STRONG!

If you are blessed with a big bag of chaos dwarfs it's less an urge than a duty  lol
