Great work, but I feel like I could've gone my whole life without reading the phrase, 'skull fondling.'  lol

The ghosts are coming along nicely, but as I had a bunch of almost-completed Orcs on my painting table, I thought I'd set aside the skull-fondling (lol) for a bit and get the greenskins finished.

So here we are: 6 Orc Big 'Uns (well, they're just two-part plastic Boyz, but they look big and menacing!)

I have changed my style a little since I painted the first batch of Orcs ages ago (literally over a decade, way back in the first couple of pages of this thread!). Since I painted those Savage Orcs recently, I really like the brighter green skin tones, so I'm going with it hereafter. It does irk me (or should that be "ork" me?) a little, but rule of cool applies.

And not far behind the Big Uns come two metal models. Completely random additions just because they were in the same box. However, the rules for Warhammer Quest call for the addition of Orc Bosses (low-level champions) to accompany the Boyz, so that's what I'll be using these for.

I painted them in exactly the same way as the Big Uns to save time.

This one was originally an Orc Bully, who used to be sold as part of a war machine crew to keep the goblins in check. I love this grizzled veteran with his pegleg and eye patch!

And this "Orc Raider with Torch" was a mail order exclusive many moons ago. I can almost see an alternate universe in which he's an adventurer. If I had infinite time maybe I'd flip the game on its head and have a party of baddies battling through an Empire village to steal their livestock  lol

More great painting, and I love those (now classic) models!

- that sounds like a very fun game! And if playing as Orcs I imagine there could be a fun and lore-appropriate competitive/cooperative tension where you need to work together to make it out alive, but you really want to beat the other guys (maybe literally) as well.

Let's squeeze in one more update before LAF goes down for maintenance.

I finished the ghosts ("Nighthaunt Chainrasps" or whatever). Thoroughly enjoyed painting these, and considering I just winged it with a very quick (and slapdash lol) approach, I'm pleased with how the lighting effect on the bases turned out.

The models themselves are spindly and hella fragile, so I'm not sure they'll stand up to the rigors of the gaming table. We shall see!

Group shot:

Close-ups (of varying quality - still battling my aging camera):

These are all excellent.  I particularly like the peg-leg fellow.

If I ever get my dungeon crawl finished, one of my expansions was absolutely going to be "baddies as heroes", with a completely inverted encounter deck - all being palace guards, dwarves, elves, etc.

Awesome stuff.

Beautiful orc skin, if such a thing is even possible.

Thank you! I really do like the new Orc skin recipe. This is basically using the same colours that the Eavy Metal team currently use, just simplified to a few layers rather than hours and hours of blending. It's much more fun to paint than my older grimdark Orcs.

Great ghosts too! The blue on the bases really works for that "eerie supernatural glow" effect. Nice job!

Question- if you're playing the classic Warhammer Quest, what do you use those guys as? Did you make up rules or were ghosts individual models in WHQ? I seem to recall in Warhammer Fantasy they were multi-based guys so I thought they may have ported that over to WHQ, but not sure.

WHQ95 came out while the WHFB 4e Undead army book was still in use.  Ghosts were still individually based in both games at that time.  Ghosts didn't become multibased swarms until the first Vampire Counts army book for fifth edition dropped in 1999.
