Steve,  the more I think about it the more I'm thinking of replicating the relevant elements from the huge ships. Currently I'm looking at a main base card for the control tower and the deflector building (the central buildings) and at least a hull and shield value for the two landing pads. The lasers could simply use the existing 'Single Turbolaser' card that comes with some of the huge ships, though each one would have its own hull and shield value. Dropping the man main shields would knock out all other shields, but it would have a value comparable with a huge ship, so probably about 6. The turrets would have a value comparable with a small ship, with the landing pads perhaps slightly higher. The landing areas would have to turn their shields off to release or accept fighters.

Using the existing single turbolaser card would mean the the base would generate energy as per the huge ship rules so the lasers would have to be charged. That might make them less devastating. The main base could probably take at least two crew cards too.

Just some more thoughts while the primer dries.

That all sounds good Steve though I have to caution that I haven't got too much into the rules for weapons and such as I'm going to be playing something much simpler. Sacrilege I know!  :o
My LAF Gallery is HERE

I'm quite keen to use as much of the relevant stuff that's out there already. I like the idea of the base player having to think about keeping the guns charged, etc. I'd love to make my own cards but have neither the software nor the skills!

Edit: the only problem is that the single turbolaser has a 3-5 range, which means it's going to be easy to get inside them.  A range of 2-4 would be better.

The primer brings the various bits together a bit better.

Wow, great work so far!  :o  I'll echo Mr. Bibbly, I can't wait to see this beast painted.

That is coming along  8)

I like the turbolasers rules from that thread as well, almost impossible to hit but when they do...  BOOM  :D

cheers

Cheers James. Not up to your standard (or Andy's) but I'm happy with it so far.

I like the 'double your agility' rule with the single turbolaser, fast ships can evade unless they make a particularly bad roll but flying space bricks are much easier targets. Putting crew on would be good too.

Lovely. Proper scratch building. I used to love building stuff like this as a kid....although I suspect the finished result will be a goo ddeal better. :D

Thanks Harry. I ran out of primer so had to wait until last night to finish the undercoat. I'm sorely tempted to try my airbrush out on it though I have little experience with one.

Just found this............what a great idea. I'm away from home at the moment (visiting the Grim North) but on my return to the Shire I will be searching through the man-drawer for suitable parts. Thanks for the inspiration, looking forward to seeing this painted, great work.

Thanks, it's a lot of fun building from junk. Trying to imagine how you could use something is one of the best bits (from The grim North! :D)
