Dragon Rampant Orcses: Liberte, Egalite, WAAAHEYYYYYYYY
« on: January 24, 2016, 07:18:47 PM »
Gearing up for Dragon Rampant, I have pulled my Dark Elves out of retirement. Generally, the paint jobs hold up - certainly not enough for me to want to strip them and start again.

But obviously I need an opposing force; how to decide? The freedom of Dragon Rampant is a kind of trap in itself as it can lead to a kind of paralysis. I therefore unleashed my secret weapon - my firstborn. I opened a bunch of browser tabs showing all the possible options - undead, dwarves, elves, orcs, goblins, skaven, pretty much everything - and let him decide what I would build.

He chose orcs. This is not displeasing.

I've so far got the standard bearer and warboss done:
Les Miserables

DR paralysis...... indeed, the flexibility gives you so many options that it is easy to become distracted by each successive new idea or whim.
Just so many choices........

I think the secret will be to keep each force clean and distinct without trying to include a load of "extra options".  Better to have 2 or 3 different elf or orc armies each to a specific theme than one army with a host of options, as that way comes the temptation to play games bigger than the rules are designed for.
