Does anyone have this Steam Launch?
« on: 22 December 2008, 06:01:16 PM »
I've been looking at this for a while:

http://www.brigadegames.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1BG-S002&Category_Code=PULP&Product_Count=139

But it's been out of stock for a long time, and I'm ready to have it on hand now.  I'm thinking of scratch building a similar one, maybe adjusting it to be a little more African Queen (if it isn't there already), and I was wondering if anyone had one and might be willing to post a few pictures of it for reference.
Check out THE CROGAN ADVENTURES, a historical adventure graphic novel series available from your local bookstore or comic shop (or, of course, Amazon).  I make 'em.

It looks like Lon picked up the launch from HLBSCo (I think that's where I got mine from).
I have a couple of pix on the Sir Peter site here:

The photos are pretty old - if you need some bigger ones, I can take some new ones since I've gotten a much better camera than I had back then.

He did indeed, together with the WWI sub.  Richard informed his customers well in advance at the time (that's when I got mine, still from HLBSC).

A few years ago, when miss Hepburn passed away, I have built the "Katherina".  Without the spar torpedos, it comes close to the AQ (which wasa the idea...).  I simply took a small wooden boat (giftshop thingie), waterlined it and added a smokestak and a bit that looked like a small steam engine, and a canopy.  Really very simple if you want to build one (scroll down halfway this page of some of my older vessels):

Actually, I have a small shipment on the way to me from my caster. I "should" have them sometime in the next week.

Fantastic!

And thanks to everyone else.  It's nice to see the paint jobs, too.

I got one from Lon some time ago but I'm painting up my John Jenkins River Launch first to make way for Mimi & Toutou (apparently they are in my Xmas stocking!).  ;D

I have the same one, it is actually a HLBSC resin model.

Apparently Frontline miniatures has a similar one in their range.

I have the Frontline model, both are very nice.

That's really great stuff, Rudi, as usual.  That's a bit of your work I hadn't looked at before.

This steam launch makes me want to make one for Pulpy Indiana Jones inspired, just before WWII games.
Member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Rugged Adventure. On death we will be judged by the triumvirate. Tintin will decide if he would write about us. Indiana Jones, if he would travel with us, and Jesus if our adventures were righteous. Amen.

Well, let's hope Lon also picks up the 28 mm range from HLBS when it closes!!!  ???
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
